Vietnamese Singer Accused of Plagiarizing Music Video of BTS RM's 'forever rain'
On the evening of August 2, BTS fans - collectively known as ARMY - in Vietnam have brought up the topic of a Vietnamese singer plagiarizing the music video of RM's solo song "forever rain," specifically the artwork used in the music video.
According to fans, Vietnamese singer Phạm Nguyên Ngọc and his music video for the song "Đau Hơn Chữ Đau," which is now deleted, overlaps completely with the artwork in "forever rain."
"forever rain" is part of RM's solo mixtape, "mono," that was released back in 2018, with Choi Jaehoon serving as the creative director of the music video and artwork.

Following the backlash and accusation of plagiarizing RM's music video, Phạm Nguyên Ngọc has spoken up and released an official statement on his social media account in the early hours of August 3.
He revealed that he has been contacting Big Hit Music and the artist Choi Jaehoon, however, he has not yet received a response. Instead, he has decided to delete the music video of his song at around 3am to respect the rights of the artists involved.
"I am also a music activist, so I know better anyone else what a copyright is. I am claiming this a shortcoming and not intentional stealing," said Phạm Nguyên Ngọc. He added that he will take this incident as a lesson so that a similar mistake won't happen in the future.
"For my ARMY friends, my Team and I would like to once again express our sincere apologies. As it is currently late, we just took down the video on Youtube. [...] We will replace the artwork in all the platforms. Please be patient. We will respect the artists' rights and change the whole thing," said Phạm Nguyên Ngọc.

He also shares that he has received a lot of negative comments from ARMY but hopes that everyone can contribute positively in a civilized manner and comment politely and not too aggressively on public pages. However, he adds that he understands the reason that they are sharing those kinds of feelings with him, and apart from that reason, it is also because they love BTS.
"BTS is good and talented. They deserve to have that [kind of] love," said the Vietnamese singer.
However, despite Phạm Nguyên Ngọc's apology and taking down of the music video, many fans are still saying that removing the music video is not a reasonable solution as it is related to intellectual property rights, and simply adding the artists' credits in the video's description is enough.
