Red Velvet's new album "QUEENDOM" has set a new record for first-day sales on the Hanteo Chart, making the girl group the fifth in history to do so!
On Aug. 16, Red Velvet made their highly-anticipated full group comeback with their sixth mini-album, "QUEENDOM," which features the title song of the same name.
On Aug. 17, the physical version of Red Velvet's "QUEENDOM" was officially released, and the album has already achieved the group's best record for first-day and first-week sales on Hanteo.
Red Velvet Becomes the Fifth K-pop Girl Group to Achieve This First-Day Sales Record
"QUEENDOM" is Red Velvet's first release as a group in one year and eight months since their first Korean compilation album "The ReVe Festival: Finale," released in December 2019.

As of 5:20 p.m. KST on Aug. 17, Red Velvet's "QUEENDOM" has recorded more than 100,000 copies on the Hanteo Chart, a total of 126,553 copies to be exact.
"QUEENDOM" becomes the girl group's first-ever album to sell more than 100,000 copies in one day. Not only is this the quintet's new highest first-day sales but also their new highest first-week sales record.
On top of this, Red Velvet becomes the fifth K-pop girl group in history to exceed 100,000 copies in its first-day sales on Hanteo.
The only other K-pop girl groups to sell over 100,000 copies on the first day of release are IZ*ONE, BLACKPINK, TWICE, and MAMAMOO.

IZ*ONE has three albums that surpassed 100,000 copies in its first-day sales on the Hanteo Chart, and these are "BLOOM*IZ" (183,975), "Oneiric Diary" (152,635), and "One-reeler/ Act IV" (190,698).
TWICE also has three albums to obtain the feat: "MORE & MORE" (274,472), "Eyes Wide Open" (107,345), and "Taste of Love" (180,236).
BLACKPINK has two albums to achieve the milestone: "How You Like That" (155,844) and "THE ALBUM" (589,310), while MAMAMOO has one album, "TRAVEL" (101,376).
In addition to this, Red Velvet's "QUEENDOM" now has the second-highest first-day sales on the Hanteo Chart among 2021 girl group albums. It has surpassed (G)I-DLE's "I burn," which only sold 75,510 copies.
As of 8:20 p.m. KST on Aug. 17, "QUEENDOM" has reached 150,186 total copies and still counting.

Meanwhile, the music video for the album's title track, also called "QUEENDOM," has attained the most views in the first 24 hours among the Red Velvet MVs (group and unit).

Red Velvet's "QUEENDOM" MV was released at 6 p.m. KST on Aug. 16. In only 13 hours and 23 minutes, the music video surpassed 10 million views on YouTube, becoming the fastest "Red Velvet" MV to do so, beating the record of 18 hours set by Irene & Seulgi's "Monster."
"QUEENDOM" MV also becomes the girl group's fastest music video to hit one million likes on YouTube.
At 6 p.m. KST on Aug. 17, Red Velvet's "QUEENDOM" recorded 16.2 million views, becoming the group's new most-viewed MV in the first 24 hours, surpassing the record of 11.4 million views set by Irene & Seulgi's "Monster."
