BTS Achieves Platinum Certifications in the United Kingdom and Japan

BTS adds another certification to their list of achievements with their latest hit songs attaining platinum certifications.

BTS Achieves Platinum Certifications Japan with 'Butter'

According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) on August 24 KST, BTS' hit digital single, "Butter," had surpassed 100 million streams in Japan, granting them the platinum certification.

This means that "Butter" only took a total of 72 days since the song's release back on May 21 to reach this milestone, making it the shortest time a song was given a platinum certification in the history of the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Not only that, but BTS is the only foreign artist to receive a platinum certification back in July as well.

In addition, to receiving a platinum certification for streaming, "Butter" had also achieved a platinum certification in albums, with the CD version of "Butter," that was released on June 9, surpassing more than a 250,000 album copies sold in Japan.

In the previous month, back in June, BTS also achieved a platinum certification in streaming with their song, "Boy With Luv," that featured Halsey and was released back in April 2019, as well as with their Japanese compilation album, "BTS, THE BEST," that was released on June 16, 2021, surpassing a million album copies and earning a million certification in albums.

BTS Achieves Platinum Certification in the United Kingdom with 'Dynamite'

Aside from earning a platinum certification in Japan, BTS also received a platinum certification from the British Record Industry Association (also known as British Phonographic Industry).

According to the British Record Industry Association back on August 21 local time, BTS' digital single, "Dynamite," which was released back on August 21, 2020, had sold more than 600,000 copies, earning the group a platinum certification.

Back when "Dynamite" was released, the song received a tremendous amount of love in the United Kingdom, entering the Official Chart at No.3 on the Single Chart's Top 100.

Based on the British Record Industry Association's list of certifications, singles that sold more than 200,000 copies achieve silver certification, gold certification for those over 400,000, platinum certification for singles over 600,000, and a multi-platinum for singles that have sold over 1.2 million copies.

BTS Cancels 'Map of the Soul' World Tour

Due to the rising COVID-19 positive cases, BTS have decided to cancel their world tour.

According to Big Hit Music back on August 20, BTS' "Map of the Soul" world tour has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and as it is difficult to give performances of the same scale and timeline as what they have previously planned.

Initially, the concerts for the tour were postponed, such as the concerts in Seoul being cancelled back in February 2020, and following that, the postponement of their North American tour in March of the same year. Ticket sales for Europe and Japan were also postponed.

As the "Map of the Soul" tour is now cancelled, Big Hit Music will be issuing refunds for those who have reserved tickets for the concerts.

Big Hit also assured fans that they are planning a more viable schedule and performance format that can meet their expectations, and further announcements will be given as soon as possible.
