BTS and BLACKPINK Dominate the Top 10 Most-Viewed Music Videos in the First 24 Hours in YouTube History

According to YouTube records, BTS and BLACKPINK have occupied almost all of the spots in the Top 10 most-viewed music videos in the first 24 hours in YouTube history!

On Sept. 11, the Korean news outlet Top Star News issued an article focusing on the Top 10 most-viewed MVs in the world of all time, and it shows how influential K-pop is in the YouTube music video market.

Among the Top 10, BTS's music videos amount to five, including the first and second places.

The No. 1 most-viewed music video within 24 hours on YouTube is none other than BTS's "Butter," released in May of this year.

BTS's "Butter" accumulated 108.2 million views in the first 24 hours after it was uploaded on May 21 at 1 p.m. KST, according to YouTube.

"Butter" has also recorded the biggest YouTube premiere in history, with more than 3.9 million concurrent viewers, beating the previous record of over three million set by "Dynamite."

BTS's "Butter" is also the fastest MV to hit 200 million YouTube views, doing so in only four days and one hour, overtaking the record of four days and 12 hours achieved by "Dynamite."

The second most-viewed music video in the first 24 hours is BTS's "Dynamite," which initially held first place. It garnered 101.1 million views on YouTube.

Three more BTS music videos currently hold the fifth, sixth, and seventh places in the Top 10 most-viewed MVs within 24 hours in YouTube history.

BLACKPINK Grabs Four Spots in the Top 10 Most Viewed Music Videos in the First 24 Hours in YouTube History

While BTS took half of the Top 10, BLACKPINK almost conquered the other five places on the list, including the third and fourth spots.

After BTS's "Dynamite," the third most-viewed MV within 24 hours after release is BLACKPINK's "How You Like That," dropped in June 2020. It earned 86.3 million YouTube views.

"How You Like That" is the fastest K-pop girl group MV to cross 10 million views, doing so in only three hours and 40 minutes, surpassing the record of four hours and 13 minutes set by "Kill This Love."

Moreover, BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" also currently holds the title of the fastest K-pop girl group MV to hit 700 million, 750 million, 800 million, and 900 million views on YouTube.

After "How You Like That," BLACKPINK's "Ice Cream" follows as the fourth most-viewed MV in the first 24 hours in YouTube history. It gained 79.08 million views after its release on Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. KST.

Two more BLACKPINK music videos currently sit on the ninth and tenth spots in the Top 10 most-viewed MVs in the first 24 hours after release.
