Brittany Minder, Big-Breasted High School Senior, Denied Access to her Prom Because of the Size of Her Breasts

Brittany Minder of Silverdale, Wash. came to her school prom in a strapless gown designed for large-chested women, but staff didn't allow her in until she covered her cleavage with a shawl, the Associated Press reported.

In other words, prom night turned out to be a bust for Brittany.

Minder said she has worn similarly-styled dresses to other Central Kitsap High School events. The prom's dress code allows strapless dresses only if the cleavage is covered, Minder's parents say their daughter was singled out because of her physique and they want a public apology, KOMO-TV reported.

She stayed for only an hour because the ordeal "took the magic out of the night," she said, according to Gawker.

The officials enforcing the dress code were acting like boobs, according to Kim Minder, Brittany's mom.

"All women are not created equal, and you cannot compare a golf ball to a grapefruit. It ain't gonna happen," Minder told KOMO-TV.

According to KOMO4 News, Minder traveled all the way to Canada to find a dress she loved that would also suit her frame. The gown she settled on was purple and strapless, with intricate beading around the bust line. Minder told the news outlet that the dress was specially designed for large-chested women and should have been allowed under her school's dress code. She added that she had worn many dresses with similar bust lines to other dances without incident.

But when Minder showed up at her prom, held at Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo, Wash. on June 1, she was told by school officials that her dress revealed too much cleavage and that she could not enter the prom unless she found something to cover herself up, according to IBTimes.com.

Minder said that eventually she draped herself in a scarf and was admitted, but she left after an hour, feeling humiliated and the event was ruined. "In my opinion, I feel that it is because I'm bigger-chested and there is more cleavage that you can see, and there's nothing I could really do about that," Minder said.

Central Kitsap's standard dress code for students, posted on its website, prohibits tube tops or halters at school, and specifies that shirts must cover students' stomachs, lower and mid backs, and sides. It does not include guidelines for prom attire.

"It was blatant from the start that the school was not being fair in how they were enforcing that rule," Minder's father, Gary, said. "A girl like Brittany should not have to go to a dance in a burlap sack because she's large-busted."

"All women are not created equal," Minder's mother, Kim, added.
