Breaking the Stigma: 7 K-pop Idols Who Recently Got Married and Prove Celebrities Should Pursue Own Happiness Too

In the K-pop scene, where dating and getting married are not wholly supported by fans, many celebrities tend to hide their romantic relationships. But these seven K-pop idols were brave enough to announce their marriage to the public.

Revealing K-pop idols' romantic relationships is not typical in the K-pop industry, and there are numerous times that they get highly criticized while most fans congratulate them. And because of the hate they receive, the career of most idols gets ruined.

Just like each ordinary person across the globe, K-pop idols reach the point in their lives that they would want to create their own family, and a few of them are listed below.

7 K-pop Idols Who Got Married (or Will Get Married) in 2020-21

TVXQ Changmin

On June 12 of last year, Changmin announced his marriage through a handwritten letter, surprising the fans. He stated in the letter that he feels nervous to write it as he has something to tell the fans.

TVXQ Changmin continued that he wants to continue his life with the person he was dating at that time.

In December 2019, he was confirmed to be in a relationship with a non-celebrity, who was reported to be younger than him.

Changmin officially tied the knot with his girlfriend on Oct. 26, 2020. He becomes the first TVXQ member to get married.

Another SM artist who announced his marriage last year is EXO Chen, and it was one of the most controversial issues in the K-pop scene with some fans throwing hate at the "Growl" singer and demanding him to withdraw from the boy group.

Like TVXQ Changmin, Chen wrote a letter to the fans in January 2020 to reveal that he is getting married to his non-celebrity girlfriend, who is pregnant at that time.

While EXO Chen's wedding was kept private and the date was not disclosed, the birth date of their first child was revealed, April 29, 2020.

Wonder Girls Hyerim

In March 2020, former Wonder Girls member Hyerim announced through a handwritten letter that she is dating a non-celebrity and that their relationship started seven years ago.

After four months, she made another announcement, and this time it is about her marriage to her long-time boyfriend, Shin Min Chul, a taekwondo athlete.

Hyerim and Shin Min Chul's wedding took place on July 5 as a private ceremony in the Gangnam District of Seoul.

Crayon Pop Gummi

Gummi is another former K-pop idol who tied the knot in 2020. In early February last year, she unveiled that she will wed a non-celebrity businessman of her same age and that they are also expecting their first baby.

The couple officially got married on Feb. 23 of the same year, and Crayon Pop Gummi gave birth to their first child in August.

Rainbow Jisook

Jisook has been in a relationship with a programmer and businessman since October 2019. The two then announced their plans for marriage in June 2020 through MBC's reality program "Don't Be Jealous."

Former Rainbow member Jisook and her boyfriend Lee Doo Hee officially became husband and wife on Oct. 31, 2020, with the ceremony attended by only their families and close friends. Notably, all members of Rainbow reunited for the special event.

Shinhwa Jun Jin

In May 2020, Shinhwa Jun Jin personally announced through a handwritten letter on Twitter that he will be marrying his non-celebrity girlfriend, who works as a flight attendant.

The male idol and his fiancée held their nuptials on Sept. 27 in Seoul. Jun Jin is the second Shinhwa member to get married, following Eric who wedded actress Na Hye Mi in July 2017.

iKON Bobby

While iKON Bobby is not yet married, he has already announced his plans to marry his non-celebrity girlfriend. His announcement shocked many people as no one even knew that he is in a relationship.

In August of this year, he posted a handwritten letter for fans on Instagram, revealing that he will wed the person he loves and that he is going to be a father in September.

On Sept. 27, iKON Bobby and his fiancée welcomed their first child to the world, which is a baby boy.
