iPad Mini 2, iPad 5 Release Date Rumors: iPad Mini 2nd Generation Production Pushed Back, iPad 5 Still On Track

Shipments for iPad Mini 2 are going to be delayed, but the iPad 5 release date is still within its schedule.

According to a report released by Digitimes, mass production for the iPad Mini 2 has been pushed back to November. On the other hand, the iPad 5 release date will definitely be ahead of the second generation of iPad Mini, because its production will start within in July-August.

The delay of the iPad Mini 2's schedule has been attributed either to production problems or to Apple's intentional plan to postpone the market introduction of the latest version of their 7.9-inch iPad device.

Apple allegedly came up with the decision to delay the release of the iPad Mini 2 based upon the observations and data gathered by  the 'market watchers.'

According to the Taiwan-based publication Digitimes, these 'watchers' believe that the iPad Mini 2 could negatively affect the sales record of iPad 5, similar to what happened to the market sales of previous versions of iPad and iPad Mini. Simply put, Apple wants to concentrate exclusively on the launching of their iPad 5. So, the iPad 5 release date is months ahead of that of the iPad Mini 2.

DigiTimes also shared details about the specs of the iPad 5. Reportedly, it will be 20-30 percent lighter than the iPad 4 and it will have a slim bezel design. Once this Apple tablet device is made available on the market on the iPad 5 release date, the shipment numbers are expected to total about 8 million by the third quarter of the year.

On the other hand, the delayed iPad Mini 2 is set to begin its production as early as the 3rd quarter. The production for its Retina display alone will begin this July.
