HYBE Trainee Leo Under Fire for Misogynistic Lyrics and Portraying Violence Towards Women in Song
On December 29 KST, a group of trainees called Trainee A, who is speculated to be trainees of HYBE recently uploaded a new video on their Youtube channel of the same name, where they usually share various content and showcase their talents in singing, dancing, rapping, and more.
In this video, which is now deleted, one of the trainees named Leo can be seen performing a rap song, while the other members of Trainee A show their support and cheer loudly.
However, following his performance, Leo came under heavy fire due to the song's misogynistic lyrics and alleged portrayal of violence towards women.
In a clip of the song that has been making its rounds on social media, Leo can be heard rapping the lyrics "F*ck that h*e in my bank, yeah that sh*t stopped breathing. Tell that b*tch, took that b*tch to the store. Ain't nobody gonna tell me why that b*tch ain't breathing, why that b*tch stopped breathing."

The clip has since then been shared numerous times, with many heavily criticizing the trainee and expressing their disappointment and shock that someone, a K-Pop trainee no less, would perform such a song.
What brought out even more ire from fans is the fact that Leo himself had revealed in a vlog that he was the one who wrote the lyrics for the song for a rap battle showdown, and that "he was angry" when he wrote the lyrics and that fans should "not mind the lyrics."
One fan commented, "This Leo (trainee a) man really said 'dont mind the lyrics, I was angry when i wrote them' and you're trying to defend him???? THIS MAN WAS ANGRY AND HIS FIRST RESPONSE WAS TO WRITE LYRICS THAT SPOKE VIOLENTLY ABOUT WOMEN??? TF IS THAT??"
Fans have also flocked to the original video on Trainee A's Youtube channel, where they continued to criticize Leo, and have expressed losing their interest in the group and their future debut following the issue.
