BTS Cancels Trip to the United States Following Postponement of the 64th Grammy Awards Ceremony
Back on January 5 local time, the Recording Academy - the organizers of the world-renowned Grammy Awards - announced the postponement of the ceremony "after careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and [their] many partners."
The decision was made in consideration for the health and safety of the people in the music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work to produce the show.
In addition, the rising cases of COVID-19 with the Omicron variant also put the ceremony - which was originally slated to take place on January 31 local time at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California - at too many risks.
In fact, this isn't the first time the Grammy Awards was postponed. In 2021, the awards ceremony was also postponed and moved to March 14 instead of January 31.
Following the Recording Academy's announcement, BTS' label Big Hit Music also released a statement regarding the seven-member group's attendance, where they snagged their second-ever nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with their 2021 record-breaking summer single "Butter," following their nomination with "Dynamite" in the previous Grammy Awards ceremony.

64th Grammy Awards Announces New Date for Ceremony
Days after the announcement, the Recording Academy announced on January 18 local time the new date for the ceremony.
This year's Grammy Awards, which honors the top artists in the music industry, will now be held on April 3 local time at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas instead of Los Angeles, according to broadcasting company CBS. Comedian Trevor Noah will continue to host the ceremony.
Regarding BTS' attendance at the Grammy Awards on the new date, Big Hit Music has yet to release a statement.

Given that BTS is now kicking-off the year with new jam-packed schedules and potentially preparing for new music and product releases, BTS' attendance is not confirmed.
Meanwhile, BTS is going head-to-head with fellow nominees Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco's "Lonely," Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's "I Get a Kick Out of You," Coldplay's "Higher Power," and Doja Cat and SZA's "Kiss Me More" for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
