BTS Jimin Gives Health Update After Testing COVID-19 Positive and Undergoing Surgery for Acute Appendicitis

Back on January 31, BTS' label Big Hit Music announced in a released statement that member Jimin had suddenly experienced abdominal and a mild sore throat in the previous day (January 30), and was taken to the emergency room, where he was found to have acute appendicitis and tested positive for COVID-19 after taking a PCR test.

Big Hit Music also shared that Jimin had undergone surgery for his acute appendicitis in the morning of January 31, and has since then been recuperating from his successful surgery while receiving in-patient treatment for the virus.

They also went on to clarify that the rest of the BTS members did not have any contact with Jimin during his infectious stage of COVID-19.

However, despite the reassurance of Big Hit Music on Jimin's health, BTS fans, ARMY, couldn't help but be worried about the idol.

Now, days after receiving his surgery, the "Filter" singer took to the global fan community platform Weverse to update and reassure fans regarding the status of his health and recovery in the morning of February 3 KST.

Over on BTS' side on Weverse, Jimin said, "Everyone, you must have been worried a lot right? I am recovering well!"

He then apologized for causing fans to worry, and gives more information regarding his recovery. "I am sorry for having worried you. But I think I will be able to leave the hospital soon! I am recovering well too, and I am eating all three meals a day. Please just wait for a little more, I will recovery quickly and return!" Jimin said.

After hearing of Jimin's health status, numerous fans trended several hashtags worldwide, such as "#WeLoveYouJimin," "#DinnerWithJimin," and "Jimin came home" through Twitter, along with messages of support and love for the idol.

Meanwhile, fellow members RM, Suga, and Jin had previously tested and recovered from COVID-19 during their long vacation.

BTS Earns Three Nods at 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards

In other news, BTS has scored three nominations for this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards.

According to the awards ceremony, BTS is nominated for Best Music Video with their 2021 hit "Butter," Best Fan Army, and Best Duo/Group of the Year.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 23 local time at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
