'Stay Alive' Broke Multiple Records Following Release
On Friday, Feb. 11, BTS Jungkook dropped the song "Stay Alive," which is featured in the OST for "7 Fates: CHAKHO." The track was produced by BTS Suga.
Within just three hours following its release, "Stay Alive" already ranked no. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in 51 different countries.
Then, within six hours, the track became the fastest song in history by any Korean soloist to rank number one in 80 different regions.
And after 14 hours since its release, "Stay Alive" reached the no. 1 spot on the iTunes Top Songs charts in 93 regions around the world.
"Stay Alive" also became the fastest song by a Korean solo artist to make it to the top of the iTunes Top Songs chart in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, and Germany.
"7 Fates: CHAKHO" is an animated webcomic that features all seven members of BTS as they try to avenge their loved ones. The webcomic is inspired by the story of chakhogapsa, a legendary group of tiger hunters from the Joseon Dynasty.
HYBE Explains 'Stay Alive' Theme
HYBE released a statement explaining the meaning behind "Stay Alive."
According to them, the song depicts the characters in the story as they try to survive in a vicious world.

The song's lyrics are about an isolated boy who's yearning to be reunited with his friends in the vicious world.
BTS has released several songs that made it to the top of the charts, so "Stay Alive" breaking records wasn't necessarily surprising.
BTS Opens Up About Their Success
In fact, they previously weighed in on the success of "BTS, The Best," which ranked no. 1 on Billboard Japan's year-end Hot Albums chart.
While speaking with Billboard, BTS said that they are grateful to all their fans because the recognition wouldn't have been possible if not for them. They also said making it to the top of the charts inspired them to create great music that the ARMYs would love.

BuzzFeed also compiled a list of BTS's top songs and their meaning.
At the top of their list is "Spring Day," which is described as an emotional song about missing old friends.
"Black Swan" is second on the list, and it tackles the anxieties and fears that BTS is worried about if they ever lose their passion for their craft.
"Blood, Sweat & Tears" is a song about temptation, desire, sacrifice, and more. It is ranked third as BTS's most popular song thus far.
Other BTS songs that made it to the list includes "Idol," "Save Me," "On," "Mic Drop," "Butter," "Dynamite," "Fire," and more.
