ATINYs Slam MBC Survival Show 'My Teenage Girl' for Plagiarizing ATEEZ's Song 'Wave'

Back on February 27, MBC aired the final episode of their survival show, "My Teenage Girl," which showed the performances of the "Debut" team and the "Challenger" team in their final mission to determine which of the members would make it in the debut lineup of the show's girl group, CLASSy.

In particular, the "Challenger" team, which consists of contestants Kim Ri Won, Kim Seon Yoo, Kim Yoon Seo, Kim Hyun Hee, Won Ji Min, Lee Mi Hee, and Lee Young Chae, performed the song "Sun," which is an original song produced and written by (G)I-DLE member Soyeon, who is also a mentor on the show.

However, following the broadcast of the "Challenger" team's performance, their song was met with criticism from K-Pop fans, specifically, ATEEZ's fans ATINY.

According to ATINYs, who took to Twitter to express their anger over "Sun," the song's chorus, which begins at the 59 second mark, is similar to the chorus beat of ATEEZ's 2019 track "Wave."

One fan in particular took the two songs together to play them alongside each other to better hear the songs' similarities.

Upon hearing the similar beat, ATINYs began trending several keywords and hashtags on Twitter, such as "#STOPCOPYINGATEEZ," "#ATEEZDESERVESBETTER," and "#JUSTICEFORATEEZ."

Some comments from fans read, "I don't even stan ATEEZ but this is getting way out of hand, to the point that they didn't even bother to try hiding it. Stop normalizing plagiarism," "I am so disappointed the way they plagiarised it. Even if you to defend it still it's obvious how it is copied and sounds exactly the same," "If you watch ATEEZ - Wave MV, the choreography is same," "Everyone really just wants to rip-off what ATEEZ, KQ and Edenery team worked so hard for. This is a shame," and similar others.

ATINYs Calls Out JYP Entertainment for Plagiarizing ATEEZ's 'Pirate' Music Video

As ATINYs are slamming "My Teenage Girl" for allegedly plagiarizing the beat of "Wave," fans have also brought up a recent issue with JYP Entertainment, who was also accused of plagiarizing the concept of ATEEZ's "Pirate" music video for their rookie group NMIXX's debut song "O.O."

Fans have also begun trending the hashtags "#JYP_stole_ateez_storyline," and "#JYPapologizetoATEEZ" to demand an apology from the "Big 4" label, who has since then remained silent on the growing issue.
