BTS Gains Attention for Having Sign Language Interpreters For Hearing-Impaired Fans at Seoul Concert

Recently on March 13, BTS wrapped up their three-day "Permission to Dance On Stage" concert at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, with the event welcoming 45,000 BTS fans, also known as ARMYs, through their doors.

While the concert was filled with numerous exciting and memorable moments from both fans and the BTS members, one aspect of the concert is gaining attention across social media platforms.

In particular, lyricist and composer Kim Eana took to her social media on March 13 to share a fact about the BTS concert that many may not be aware of.

Over on her Instagram, Kim Eana shared a short clip during the concert, which shows a sign language interpreter actively signing BTS' performance in real-time, while wearing a clear face mask to show her mouth at the seating area for the disabled.

According to reports, HYBE had hired a sign language interpreter for fans with hearing impairment after requests from fans to do so came in.

Along with her post, Kim Eana had praised both BTS and HYBE for making the concert more inclusive for fans. "It is so rare to say that it is a BTS concert without [fans being able] to shout. But it is #rathergood! Being in a place where many people are happy as if they share one mind is always an exciting experience," Kim Eana began.

She continued, "What was particularly heartwarming was the appearance of one person dancing and interpreting the lyrics [of BTS' songs] in sign language throughout the performances," adding that the section where the interpreter was was for the hearing impaired.

"When it was the encore stage for Permission to Dance, [the interpreter] was particularly impressive. This will be a memorable experience for me for a long time, " she added.

BTS Makes 'Permission to Dance' Inclusive

This isn't the first time that BTS makes sure to take care of their fans who have trouble hearing.

In fact, their song "Permission to Dance," which was released back in July 2021, has international sign language included in its choreography!

In the song's choreography, BTS included the sign language for words meaning "joy," "cheer," or "pleasant," "dance" and "peace."
