STAYC Sieun Cries After Hearing Her Nickname 'Park Nam Jung's Daughter' - Here's Why

On March 16, STAYC member Sieun was the latest guest on the Hey.News web entertainment show "Hello You." Through this program, K-pop idols meet the parents of their fans.

In the latest episode, Sieun met Lim Kiae, the mother of her fan, Seok Yeonwoo. The first part of the show is reading the letter that the fan wrote for the idol.

In some parts of the letter, Yeonwoo mentioned STAYC Sieun's nicknames.

It reads:

"Before I became a SWEET, I saw your nicknames such as 'Park Nam Jung's daughter,' or actress Park Sieun. I thought those nicknames were your everything, but while watching your dramas again, I thought 'Oh, she's a person who shines herself.'

I've watched 'Welcome to My Lab 2' since childhood because it was very fun, and I even cried while watching 'Still 17.' Your acting experience bloomed in the music video of 'STEREOTYPE,' as well as your stage performance and facial expressions. I think you're shining in such a short period thanks to your hard work at such a young age, and your patience and passion."

STAYC Sieun Cries After Hearing Her Nickname “Park Nam Jung’s Daughter” – Here’s Why News 1

STAYC Sieun is known to be Park Nam Jung's daughter and a former actress. She started appearing on Korean dramas in 2014. She was under JYP Entertainment when she was working as an actress but she left the agency in 2019 after JYP Actors became defunct.

Meanwhile, Park Nam Jung is one of the most famous singers in South Korea in the 1980s. Because of her relation to him, many people would only call Sieun "Park Nam Jung's daughter" and do not recognize her own talent and as STAYC Sieun.

Lim Kiae commented on this by saying:

"Before Sieun from STAYC, I first thought of the image of Park Nam Jung's daughter. So this nickname might have been a burden for you who wanted to be recognized as a singer."

While crying, Sieun responded:

"Long story short, I think I felt the burden a lot. In fact, those expressions and nicknames were always there since I was young. Because of that, I put more effort into what I do."

The STAYC member continued that when she was young, the thought of only being called "Park Nam Jung's daughter" scares her and that she was avoiding being called that way.

STAYC Sieun further said:

"But from a certain point, I eventually accepted it. Now, thinking about those nicknames, the burden has decreased a lot. But I guess it has become a habit."
