LOONA Chuu Might Lose Stage Name After Blockberry Creative Applies for Trademark Rights
Recenlty on March 29, it was reported that LOONA member Chuu had filed a lawsuit against her label, Blockberry Creative, to suspend her exclusive contract back in December 2021.
Reports say that Chuu have already received a partial approval from the court, and that the idol would be given a preliminary injunction, which will allow her contract to be suspended it the mean time to prevent any further harm until a final ruling is issued by the court.
Both Chuu and Blockberry Creative have yet to release a statement regarding the matter, and the reasons behind Chuu's lawsuit against the label have not been revealed as well.
After the shocking news of the sudden lawsuit, fans have come to find that there is a possibility that Chuu may not be able to use her stage name anymore for promotions if she were to terminate her contract and leave Blockberry Creative.
According to the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS), Blockberry Creative had applied for trademark rights back on February 4 for the name "LOONA's Chuu," in both English and Korean.

This means that Blockberry Creative had applied for trademark rights over the names while the lawsuit was ongoing.
K-Pop Groups T-ARA and BEAST Had Similar Cases as LOONA Chuu's
This isn't the first time that a company tried to apply for trademark rights over a group or member.
Back in 2018, T-ARA had submitted a documentation to KIPRIS to reject former label MBK Entertainment's trademark application for their group name. This was around the time the T-ARA members had terminated their contract with the label.

In 2016, BEAST, whose members have now rebranded themselves as HIGHLIGHT, also faced difficulties in promoting as a group as Cube Entertainment had trademark rights over the group name "BEAST," until they decided to re-debut with a new group name following their departure from the label.
After finding out about the trademark application, LOONA fans, Orbits, were left shocked. Some comments from fans read, "Why did you only apply for Chuu's name?," "Wow this is really shocking... They trademarked her name while the lawsuit was already taking place," "This is how BEAST lost their name," "This reminds me of how GFRIEND's name was trademarked right before they disbanded," "So this means that Chuu won't be able to use her stage name if she leaves the company?," and similar others.
