Former B.A.P Member Himchan Admits to Committing Sexual Assault in Latest Court Hearing

Recently on April 12, an appeal trial for former B.A.P member Himchan's sexual assault case was held at the Seoul Central District Court.

On this day, Himchan admitted to the presiding judge all of his charges. Since the case began, Himchan had been denying the sexual assault allegations.

Himchan's side, who has acknowledged all of the charges, also submitted a statement of reflection.

However, the court stated that Himchan, who was previously sentenced to 10 months in prison and ordered to complete 50 hours of sexual violence treatment, will not be able to avoid court arrest if his appeal is dismissed.

The court also stated that significant charges are necessary for the recovery of Himchan's sexual assault victim, and only when the deposit to the victim is made will the court think about his appeal.

Himchan's side said that it would take around two months for the deposit process to go through, with the court accepting the time frame and deciding to hold the third trial hearing for the former idol's case on June 14 KST.

Meanwhile, Himchan was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her twneties at a guest house located in Joan-myeon, Namyangju in the Gyeonggi Province back in July 2018.

The victim (hereafter referred to as "A") claimed that Himchan, along with two other men and two other women in their twenties, were spending time together at the guest house when the former B.A.P member had forced himself on her.

Despite Himchan's denial of charges, his first trial hearing sentenced him to 10 months in prison and an order to complete 50 hours of sexual violence treatment back in February 2021.

At the time of the ruling, the court explained that based on the evidences given, the victim's statement had sufficient credibility.

In response to the ruling, Himchan sent in an appeal.
