Here Are the Only K-pop Idols Dubbed as 'Nation's First Love'

Although the "Nation's First Love" was commonly given to top stars in the acting field, these K-pop idols turned actresses have undeniable charms and skills that made them earn the title. This is rarely achieved by idols!

In the entertainment scene, particularly in the acting scene, the title "Nation's First Love" is given to top actresses who emit the "Chut Sarang" vibe. It is described as a youthful star with long hair past the shoulder. She also exudes innocence and pureness that will remind you of your first experience of love.

Although numerous personalities will remind you of this image, the title was only given to top stars, who are widely known by citizens of any age in South Korea.

The original "Nation's First Love" was Im Ye Jin, a popular actress in the 80s. Through the years, only a few and top-tier actresses only achieved this title, such as Son Ye Jin, Jun Ji Hyun, Kim Tae Ri.

While it is super rare for actresses to achieve this level of recognition, these K-pop idols or trainee, broke the wall. They became the only stars from the music scene that were named, "Nation's First Love."

Three Idols, Star Dubbed as 'Nation's First Love'

1. Lee Yeon Hee

Although not entirely an idol, before she became an actress, Lee Yeon Hee was a legendary K-pop trainee who almost debuted as the leader and member of the Girls' Generation.

Unfortunately, she didn't make it in the final lineup due to her lack of practice. Due to her incredible visual, an iconic SM Entertainment myth narrated that she wasn't able to debut because her beauty was out of this world. She would take all the attention of fans if she will stand next to the members.

It was initially a joke, but when she debuted, this joke turned into a reality because she took the acting scene by storm as "Nation's First Love" for her innocent and pure beauty.

2. Bae Suzy

Bae Suzy who initially rose as a member of Miss A immediately gained attention for her top visual after her debut. In fact, she was even named one of the "Most Beautiful Idols" in the K-pop scene for her cute yet sexy charm.

Due to her versatile skills, it was not long before she debuted as an actress in the film, "Architecture 101" in 2012.

In the film, Suzy played the role of the young Seo Yeon, the first love of the main character Seungmin (played by Lee Je Hoon). However, she didn't only capture the heart of the male lead but the hearts of Korean men and even women as well, due to her pure visual.

3. WJSN Bona

Last but not least, after about a decade without a new "Nation's First Love," WJSN member Bona was officially named by Korean media and K-Netz as 2022 "Nation's First Love"!

In particular, Bona gained huge attention from viewers all over the world thanks to the hit drama, "Twenty Five, Twenty One."

In the drama, Bona flaunted the new definition of "Nation's First Love" who is not only pure by appearance but pure by heart.

Playing the role of Ko Yurim, the actress made the viewers fall in love with her character with deep love for her family and friends. She showed a strong yet innocent image despite life's challenges.
