Hyoyeon Comeback 2022 - Here's What We Know About Her Mini-Album So Far

On May 2 at midnight KST, SM Entertainment took to Girls' Generation's official social media accounts to announce Hyoyeon's return to the K-pop scene with her first mini-album.

According to the post, Hyoyeon's upcoming album is titled "DEEP" and is due out on the May 16 at 6 p.m. KST.

The black-and-white teaser image that came along with the announcement shows a close up shot of an eye.

Reportedly, Girls' Generation Hyoyeon's mini-album will contain the title track (which is also called "DEEP"), as well as new songs and previously released songs. It is said to be composed of a total of seven songs under the electronic genre.

"DEEP" will be Hyoyeon's first solo music release this year, and will mark her first comeback in nine months since her single "Second" arrived in August 2021.

In the past years, Hyoyeon showed various charms as a DJ and a solo artist through several digital singles. Because of this, anticipation for her new music and performance is growing.

SM Entertainment is yet to provide further details about Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon's comeback on May 16, so stay tuned!

Girls' Generation Hyoyeon's Recent Activities

Hyoyeon's recent solo activities in the music scene is her comeback with "Second" (featuring BIBI), which came out on Aug. 9, 2021.

"Second" is a summer dance pop song containing a message that says it's okay to take a second to relax in our busy life every day. BIBI took part in writing the lyrics for the track.

After its release, Hyoyeon's "Second" debuted at No. 26 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart - her highest peak on the chart to date, surpassing "Dessert" which reached No. 33.

It also ranked first on iTunes Song charts in eight countries, No. 1 on iTunes K-pop Song charts in 15 countries, and No. 1 on iTunes Pop Songs charts in eight countries.

For the week ending on Aug. 21, "Second" landed at No. 17 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart.

In South Korea, Girls' Generation Hyoyeon's "Second" debuted at No. 26 on Bugs and No. 213 on Genie at 7 p.m. KST on Aug. 9.

Apart from her solo comeback, Hyoyeon also collaborated with Lil Cherry for the remix version of the rapper's song "G!"

Early this year, the Girls' Generation member re-debuted as a member of GOT the beat as part of SM Entertainment's Girls On Top project. The new girl group released their first song "Step Back" on Jan. 3.

Regarding her upcoming solo activities besides her comeback with "DEEP," Hyoyeon will take part in SM Entertainment's concert in Tokyo, Japan, called "SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU Express @ Tokyo." Her bandmate Taeyeon will also be there, as well as other SM artists.

"SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU Express @ Tokyo" will take place on Aug. 27 and 28 at Tokyo Dome.
