With its electronic funk, "Illusion" quickly attracted the attention of internet users because of its catchy, addictive melody that aespa is known for.

The song was not promoted or teased but managed to attract a large number of listeners thanks to its trendy melody. However, many internet users believe the song has the distinct colors of SuperM, a supergroup under SM Entertainment.

Some speculated that the song was originally for SuperM, but SM Entertainment decided to shelve the song until they gave it to aespa.

Comments for the similarities in music read:

"This is definitely an aespa song. The structure is similar to 'Savage,' but is much more mellow and easier to absorb."

"But it has a bit of a SuperM vibe. When I first listened, the lines at the start automatically made me think of the SuperM line-up."

"But has anyone noticed that the logo in the lyric video has SuperM's vibe?"

"Personally, I think the song is a little predictable. If you listen to aespa songs, you will know which direction the song is going."

"Is SM making aespa recycle unused songs?"
