Lapillus Chanty Reveals How BTS, K-pop Groups and Gong Yoo Inspired Her to Become Idol
On June 20, Shanty, a member of the newly-launched girl group Lapillus, attended a debut showcase for the release of their first digital single "HIT YA!," held at Shinhan Play Square in Mecenatpolis, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
There, Chanty shared the story of how she made her debut as a K-pop idol as a Filipina-Argentinian.
Chanty, who initially debuted as an actress and model in the Philippines, said:
"K-pop and K-drama are very famous in the Philippines. When I was an actress in the Philippines, I naturally became a fan.
Also, while watching K-pop idol seniors, I thought I wanted to do something cool, and then I got a good opportunity and debuted."

In a related online interview held with the Filipino press, Chanty also told the Filipino program GMA News:
"I became a full-fledged K-pop fan because of BTS senior. They became a big factor in my desire to debut as a K-pop idol. Watching them perform, dance and sing, all that, make me say, 'That's so cool.'"
She went on by naming BLACKPINK, IU, and 2NE1 as some of her favorite idols. Seeing them perform and send various messages worldwide inspired Chanty to participate in that great work as well.
Basing it on her past videos and photos, Chanty's bias could be BTS V!
Chanty Hints at How She Became a K-pop Trainee
In another news, Chanty also opened up about how she was able to become a trainee under MLD Entertainment.
In her interview with METRO Style, the rookie idol claimed that her love for K-pop was influenced by her fellow Filipino stars Belle Mariano and Charlie Dizon, a former K-pop trainee. During a project where the three worked together, the latter stars introduced BTS and BLACKPINK to the Lapillus member.
After dreaming of becoming an idol, Chanty's Argentinian father, who has a Korean friend, introduced Chanty to MLD Entertainment. She then trained under the agency for about nine months before her official debut with Lapillus.
Meanwhile, when asked about her favorite Korean drama, Chanty replied:
"I enjoyed watching 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God' (Goblin). I saw Gong Yoo in a cool way."

Back in her interview with the Korean press, Chanty conveyed her grateful heart for the support she gets from both her co-Filipinos and co-Argentinians.
"Argentinians are also very interested in K-pop, so I am receiving a lot of support (from them) as well. I am very grateful."
In regards to what kind of artist she wants to become, Chanty responded:
"I want to be an artist who pulls off various concepts like the Lapillus members."
Lapillus, to which Chanty belongs, is a multinational group with three out of six members from abroad.
This includes Chanty, a Filipina-Argentinian high-teen star, and Shana, who initially rose into popularity after joining Mnet's "Girls Planet 999: The Girls' Saga."
