There's no denying that the life of a K-pop idol is full of stress. This affects the artist's mental health and results in the idol taking a break from group activities. Besides anxiety and other mental illnesses, health conditions and sometimes conflict with their companies are also reasons idols temporarily halt their activities.
Here are some K-pop artists that had to go on hiatus due to various reasons.

NCT Dream Jaemin
Jaemin was unable to participate in any NCT Dream and NCT activities for one year and two months, from Dec. 1, 2016 to February 2018 due to his herniated disc (which worsened following his debut in August 2016).

He resumed his activities in February 2018, and participated in NCT's comeback with their first studio album "Empathy." He also rejoined NCT Dream, and the group made their first comeback with the single "Go" in March of the same year.
Red Velvet Wendy
Red Velvet Wendy started taking a break on December 25, 2019, when she suffered severe injuries after she fell from the stage during their "2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon" rehearsal.
She partially returned to promoting with Red Velvet in August 2020 when the group released their cover of BoA's "Milky Way" in celebration of the latter's 20th debut anniversary.
After a year-long hiatus, Wendy ultimately rejoined the team in January 2021 when they performed for the first time as a full group at SMTOWN LIVE "Culture Humanity" concert.
PENTAGON Yan An
PENTAGON Yan An was on a temporary break from July 5, 2019, to September 17, 2020, for 440 days, or one year and two months. CUBE Entertainment announced on July 5 that the idol will temporarily halt his activities to focus on his health recovery, although they didn't specify what his health condition was.

On September 17, Yan An signaled his return to the music scene by uploading a clip titled "I've Been Keeping an Eye on You" to PENTAGON's account on the fandom platform UNIVERSE.
LOONA Haseul
Haseul was unable to participate in LOONA's activities for one year and six months, from January 8, 2020 to June 2021. She temporarily halted her activities after she was diagnosed with recurring anxiety. She then rejoined her group for their comeback with "[&]" on June 28, 2021.
Former PRISTIN Kyla
Former PRISTIN member Kyla is another K-pop idol with one of the longest hiatuses. Her break lasted for one year and seven months, from October 12, 2017, until May 2019.
In late 2017, Kyla received a check-up while resting at her home in the United States during Chuseok, and the doctor advised her to take a break.
Unfortunately, compared to PENTAGON Yan An, Kyla was unable to resume her activities because PRISTIN, disbanded during her hiatus, specifically on May 24, 2019.
In September 2019, Kyla shared the exact reason for her break. She revealed in a video that she had gotten a concussion while shooting a music video for their comeback.
Former MOMOLAND Daisy
Daisy became inactive in MOMOLAND starting on March 13, 2019. MLD Entertainment announced that she, alongside Taeha, would take a break due to health and personal reasons.

In September 2021, Daisy's sister said in an Instagram story that Daisy had left MOMOLAND in 2020. It is said that she left on May 13 during her legal battle with MLD. Her hiatus before she left the group lasted for one year and two months.
EXID Solji
EXID Solji joins the list of K-pop idols with more than a year of break from the K-pop scene.
She was inactive in the group for almost one year and nine months, from December 21, 2016, to September 6, 2018. The reason is because she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She had to take a break to focus on her health.
