Sunmi's 'Heart Burn' in Plagiarism Allegations Due to Similarity With Avril Lavigne Song
Back on June 29, Sunmi returned with her new single entitled "Heart Burn." Since then, the idol has promoted and performed her new song on various music shows and broadcasts.
However, nearly a month after the single's release, concerns were raised that Sunmi's new song plagiarizes a song released by Avril Lavigne around two decades ago.
The song in question by Avril Lavigne is her 2002 release "I Don't Give." Some claim that "Heart Burn" and "I Don't Give" have a similar melody in the introduction and the design of the chorus.
However, after the allegations were raised, netizens stepped up to defend Sunmi from plagiarism rumors. According to those who defended Sunmi, they say that the melody of the two songs is very common and is not counted as plagiarism.
