IVE Liz Continues to Draw Flak for Weight Gain
On August 7, controversial YouTuber Sojang released a video titled "IVE Liz & Rei shocking update... Getting fatter." In the video, the YouTuber commented that the two female idols had noticeable weight gain in their most recent performance.
When Liz first debuted, she was praised for her Barbie-like visuals. However, following "LOVE DIVE," people noticed that the idol was gaining weight. While many initially found her weight gain cute, people started to comment on her figure negatively.
The criticism reached an all-time high following IVE's appearance at the "2022 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League" on June 19, 2022.
On August 1, IVE was seen at Gimp International Airport. The group was leaving for Tokyo to accomplish their activities in Japan. Liz was seen with more noticeable weight gain, which shocked internet users. Some say it looked as if she had given up on dieting.
Photos taken of the idol during their performance in Japan also sparked backlash. Some say she had lost her freshness when she first debuted due to her weight. While people agreed that her face was pretty, her weight gain had caused her aura to diminish.
Others stated that her weight gain made her stand out negatively compared to other IVE members, such as Jang Wonyoung or Ahn Yujin.
However, others are defending Liz. Many are saying that she is not fat and is still considered skinny. People are also saying that regardless of her weight gain, she is still a popular member.
IVE Rei Garners Attention for Weight Gain
However, it is not only Liz who drew attention due to her weight.
Though Rei's weight gain is not as apparent as Liz's, people commented that the Japanese idol also appeared to look heavier following IVE's performance in Japan.

People commented that her stomach appeared bloated in their performance. The idol was also seen wearing a jacket she previously wore for "LOVE DIVE" promotions. While the jacket fit her well before, it appeared tighter in their recent performance.
Meanwhile, it was also noted that she lost her sharp jawline.
