On August 19, LE SSERAFIM belatedly became the center of praise on various online communities after they made headlines for group's stage performance in KBS2's "Music Bank" on May 27.

On that day, the main character of the video LE SSERAFIM performed their debut track, "FEARLESS," on the music show. However, it seems like an accident happened on the technical side of the program, making the backtrack sounds weaker than it usually does. The breathing of the members can be clearly heard as well, not to mention the sound of their dance movements.

In particular, a backing track is an audio recording that serves as accompaniment that live musicians sing along. This is commonly used by K-pop idols to ensure the quality of the performance, especially during the singing part while they do complicated dance choreographies.

While accidents like this could be a disadvantage especially to rookie idols, K-pop fans were surprised that the five-member group delivered an excellent live performance along with intense dance moves.

The members, especially Chaewon, were praised for their stable vocals, completing the performance memorably.

The online community posts featuring LE SSERAFIM's live vocals went viral and amassed more than 40,000 views and 100 comments within five hours of posting.

On YouTube, the actual clip posted by KBS also surpassed 1.3M views, boasting popularity.

Online users agreed that the performance met an acoustic accident because the breathing and movement sounds were not included in the following week's broadcast videos.

Due to this, the rookie girl group that was "forced" to show off their live performance has been re-examined.

Fans left comments such as:

  • "The breathing sounds are distracting, but they were all good that I can't help but continue listening."
  • "It's rare for rookie idols to perform live, so it's impressive."
  • "Their performance was so clean that I was confused if it's AR or MR."
  • "This is the first time in years that I heard idols' breathing once again which means they performed it live. I'm so tired of singers lip-syncing."

Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM, which debuted on May 2 with first mini-album "FEARLESS" under HYBE/Source Music, continues to prove impact in the music scene about 100 days after release.

On August 16, the U.S. music media Billboard announced that "FEARLESS" ranked 153rd in "Billboard Global (excluding the U.S.)" for 15 consecutive weeks.

As a result, the quintet broke the record for the longest-charting team on the Billboard chart among K-pop girl groups that debuted this year and has been steadily gaining popularity even after two months of official activities.

"FEARLESS" stands out on the domestic music charts as well. The song is still showing its presence, ranking 18th, 19th, and 28th on MelOn, Bugs and Genie's latest weekly charts (total period August 8-14), respectively.
