Lee Jiwoo in 2021: 'My Teenage Girl,' Elimination in 11th Episode

In September 2021, Lee Jinwoo was revealed to join MBC's girl group survival show, "My Teenage Girl." The program first aired in November of that year, to find seven female idol aspirants aged 10 years old and above to become the next girl group to chart on Billboard.

During her entrance exam in the show, Jiwoo appeared as a PocketDol Studio trainee and immediately left a huge impression on viewers after her cover of BLACKPINK's "Ice Cream." In fact, it didn't only gain positive remarks from K-pop fans but as well as all four mentors who voted for her.

What attracted the attention of K-pop enthusiasts the most was when it was revealed that Jiwoo wasn't supposed to join the show, but she ended up participating after working as a model for the show's trailer.

During the contest proper then, she continuously earns praises for her youthful visual, not to mention her top singing skills and dancing potential. Unfortunately, she was eliminated during the 11th episode of the broadcast in February 2022 after gaining the least votes.

Reason Lee Jiwoo Didn't Debut Under 'BIG3' SM, JYP, YG & FNC Entertainment

In the first episode of MBC’s “My Teenage Girl Prequel – Oh Eun Young’s hesitation before school, ” it became known that Lee Jiwoo captured the hearts of the "BIG3" companies before joining the show.

According to her, she received an offer from SM Entertainment to become a trainee. After months with them, she eventually moved to JYP Entertainment as an acting trainee. She also joined YG and FNC Entertainment but left the aforementioned on her own accord as well.

When asked why she did that, Lee Jiwoo explained:

“I wanted to be an idol, but I left the company because I was scared of dancing.”

When she was eliminated, there are a lot of fans and internet users who expressed regrets about her failure to debut. However, there are also numerous people who encouraged her and attested that they will wait for her debut.

On June 1, 2022, then, Jiwoo delivered the great news that she will finally have her much-anticipated debut as an idol under TripleS.

In particular, the large-scale project will comprise 24 members, which will debut in 2023 under MODHAUS. Their concept is currently gaining much attention as they will be the first girl group to combine the world of K-pop and NFT.

The group will follow a rotational system, wherein comebacks and releases could be done by the whole group, by sub-units, or solo. Fans will have first-hand experience of creating their own group as the lineup will be chosen by the fans themselves.
