On various SNS, speculations about former IZ*ONE Lee Chaeyeon's solo debut are circulating after K-pop fans noticed THESE clues. Here's what people are saying.
Lee Chaeyeon Reportedly Preparing For Solo Debut
Korean media outlet TopStarNews wrote on September 11:
"Lee Chaeyeon, a former member of the group IZ*ONE, is preparing to debut as a solo singer."
To clarify, the report remains a speculation following the said hints for the past weeks. One of them is her dance cover of NewJeans' viral track, "Hype Boy," on Sept. 7.
In the uploaded video, the idol impressed K-pop fans with her dance skills. She also showcased her title "Feather Chaeyeon" by flaunting her technique of dancing lightly yet powerfully.
The video became a huge topic, not only because of her skills but also because of the widespread speculations regarding her solo endeavor. This is after some fans recognized that the idol filmed the cover inside a dance studio, leaving people wondering if she is preparing or working on something on that day.
It seems like her sister's, ITZY member Chaeryeong, statement strengthened the theories after updating on Chaeyeon's recent status.
On MBC's "Radio Star" aired on the 7th, the ITZY member appeared as a guest and briefly revealed that her sister is preparing something for fans.
In particular, when asked about her sister Lee Chaeyeon, who appeared on "Street Woman Fighter," Lee Chaeryeong said:
"She is actually preparing something right now. (It) is going to come out cool and pretty soon."
Following this, Lee Chaeyeon delivered her Chuseok greetings in 2022 through her agency WM Entertainment's official YouTube.
In the video, Lee Chaeyeon said:
"It's already a season where you can feel a cool wind. Chuseok (Hangawi) a national holiday that cannot be missed when it comes to autumn, is approaching. My wish is that everyone around me, including fans, will have a warm Chuseok. I hope everyone will have a warm Hangawi without anyone being left out this holiday, have a pleasant and rich Hangawi."
Will Lee Chaeyeon Debut in Solo or Group?
Amid this report, there are discussions about whether Chaeyeon will debut as a soloist or will re-debut in a group.
In 2018, Lee initially debuted under the project girl group IZ*ONE after securing 12th place in Mnet's survival program, "Produce 48."
Since then, she rose as the main dancer, her skills often ranked along with K-pop's top female dancers BLACKPINK Lisa, TWICE Momo, and more.
When the project girl group disbanded in 2021, Chaeyeon went back to WM Entertainment and drew anticipation for her re-debut in an upcoming girl group.
However, in the same year, Chaeyeon announced her participation in another survival program, Mnet's "Street Woman Fighter."
Unfortunately, her crew WANT was eliminated after ranking 7th. Nevertheless, during the program, her dance skills were tremendously praised.
