On October 13, girl group ITZY made headlines after adding another honorific title to their long list of accolades!

Aside from "4th-Gen K-pop's Queen," the quintet according to the K-media also secured its position as "University Festival Queen."

In particular, JYP Entertainment shared that ITZY received multiple love calls from universities to celebrate the festival with them through performance. Amid pandemic, the group has been steadily gaining more fans by attending university festivals.

Electronic Newspaper (전자신문) said:

"Debut songs "DALLA DALLA", "WANNABE", "Not Shy" as well as "Mafia in the Morning" and "SNEAKERS" are hit songs causing a lot of buzzes on social media as well as at the event site."

SpoTV News and Sports Seoul also highlighted the group's LIVE performance, which is one of the standards that a festival queen should do.

Korean media outlets also emphasized how ITZY is capturing Generation Z, evident in how their viral festival videos contained loud shouts from the audience, gaining them more praise from K-pop enthusiasts.

Effect To ITZY After Gaining More Popularity From University Festivals

While ITZY already has a huge fandom in Korea, the group earned more supporters, turning non-K-pop fans into MIDZYs (ITZY fandom).

Their appearance in university festivals also became one of the factors that lead to the popularity of Mnet's reality program, "LA@ITZY," which is broadcast on Mnet (Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. KST) and M2 YouTube (Wednesday at 8 p.m. KST).

Due to this, the anticipation of their first world tour debut is also increasing. The group's first concert stop will be in eight U.S. cities this October and November. They will officially start their American tour in LA on Oct. 26, a part of its "ITZY THE 1ST WORLD TOUR."

Following LA, ITZY will also hold performances in Phoenix on the 29th, Dallas on November 1st, Houston on the 3rd, Atlanta on the 5th, Chicago on the 7th, Boston on the 10th, and New York on the 13th. More dates and locations will be revealed in the following months.
