[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] Pretzelle Dishes on Their Group Name, Fave Track in Debut Album, and More!

Pretzelle, formed in 2020, is derived from the popular snack pretzel. But while the latter is meant to bring about sweetness and delight, the Thai pop girl group symbolizes infinite happiness as they take inspiration from the confection's shape.

In an exclusive interview with the KpopStarz team, Aumaim, Inc, Ice, and Grace - collectively known as Pretzelle - talked about how their group was formed, their favorite song from their debut album, the country they want to expand, and more!

KpopStarz: How did your group get formed? Please tell us the story of your band!

ICE: Each member has a unique story of how they joined. For example, our producer found me on Instagram and was interested in my character. So, he invited me to the studio to try training with the other members and see if I could develop into an artist.

INC: Our producer had a project in mind to create a girl group, and he found us on social media. He contacted us and held auditions, and after that, we became Pretzelle.

KpopStarz: Which countries in Asia are you next targeting to expand your music market to?

AUM: We'd like to expand to Japan, as the Japanese music market is very diverse and interesting. Pretzelle's music is also quite varied, so if we have to try different styles or translate our songs into other languages, Japan seems like the perfect fit.

ICE: I agree with Japan. I think the Japanese language has a cute quality, and their music scene is quite diverse. I feel that if we were to make our music in Japanese, it would be really cool.

INC: Honestly, we'd be happy to go to any country. But if I had to choose, I would say Japan because we have a project coming up there soon. So, it seems like a suitable country to promote our music.

GRACE: I also want to expand to Japan. Pretzelle has had the opportunity to sing Japanese songs several times, and I feel our music has the potential to be promoted and produced in Japan.

KpopStarz: For each member of the group, please share your favorite song off your debut album, and provide the reason for having such a song your favorite.

AUM: My favorite song is "First Love," because it's sweet, cute, and has easily relatable lyrics. It's also the song that helped more people get to know Pretzelle.

ICE: My favorite song is "U R Mine" because I feel the lyrics convey a clear message about how much I like you and how cute you are. It's like we're saying that so many people like you, but would you become my boyfriend? It's a playful and contradictory kind of cuteness!

INC: I like "U R Mine" because it has adorable lyrics, and I also love our look in the music video for this song.

GRACE: My favorite song is "How Much Do You Have to Like?" because I feel it truly represents Pretzelle's essence. The lyrics, mood, and all elements of the song are just perfect. Plus, it's a song that many people enjoy as well.

KpopStarz: Which tour in Asia is the most unforgettable for each member of the group?

INC: We haven't had the chance to tour internationally yet, but if we're talking about memorable domestic tours, it would have to be the concert at Rajamangala Stadium (The biggest stadium in Thailand). It was such a massive stage, and we had the opportunity to perform alongside many famous artists there.

KpopStarz: Any unique future plans to expand your market and fan base in Thailand and other parts of Asia?

AUM: Currently, Pretzelle is working on a project in collaboration with a team in Japan. We think this project is very interesting and unique. It might allow everyone to see a new side of Pretzelle, potentially increasing our fan base in both Thailand and Japan. However, the extent of our success depends on the quality of the work we put out. In any case, please keep an eye on Pretzelle and stay tuned to find out what project we're working on!
