At a young age of 23, Changbin continues cementing his status as a "Young & Rich" idol!

In 2018, Changbin made his name known first in the music scene as the main rapper of JYP Entertainment's new boy group Stray Kids.

Since his debut, he has been lauded not only for his rapping skills but also because of his talent in composing, songwriting, and producing songs.

As a result, he joined 3RACHA, composed of Bang Chan, Changbin and Han. It is a unit dedicated to make the best music for the group. Some of their hits include "God's Menu," MANIAC," "Thunderous," and "CASE 143."

With the number of songs that he had written and composed, STAYs and even the media often show interest in their earnings from producing hits after hits. After all, artists don't really become rich with just YouTube streams and physical sales, but with their song streams (music royalty fee) and concert revenues.

According to sources, Changbin's net worth in 2023 sits at more than $3.5 to $5 million. Most of his income comes from his solo and group income and his advertisement fees.

Is Stray Kids Changbin the Richest Member?

According to comedian Jo Se Ho, Changbin is one of the richest among Stray Kids members, along with Bang Chan.

In the recent broadcast of "Hong Kim Dongjeon" (Beat Coin), the comedian discussed the topic by initially mentioning how Bang Chan must have a huge sum of money, thanks to his copyright fees.

Jo said:

"I heard you have a lot of money. I heard that the copyright fee for music is no joke."

When Bang Chan humbly denied it as well as the rumor that he purchased a German luxury car, Jo Se Ho changed his target and told Changbin:

"I heard Changbin is richer. How many songs did you make?"

With this, Changbin surprised viewers by responding to the number of copyrighted songs, saying:

"There are almost 150 songs."

How Do Idols Make Wealth from Royalty Fees?

In February 2023, 3RACHA became full members of KOMCA, the Korea Music Copyright Association.

To become a full member of this non-profit organization for songwriters, they should have at least earned income of over 30 million won ($24k) from royalties alone.

According to KOMCA, the total earning for every song per stream is 7 cents KRW (0.0054 USD). With this, just having 100,000 streams means they would be getting $540 – just imagine if the song has millions of streams then!

Although not everything goes into the pocket of the artist as they have to share it with the streaming site and company, this money is still big when accumulated per year!

In fact, in 2014, rapper San E said that having a popular song can earn them about $168k per month. This means Changbin earns more given that most of their releases dominate the music charts!
