6 Most Legendary 'M Countdown' Stages According to PDs: SHINee, EXO, More!

Out of 800 episodes aired by Mnet's "M Countdown," THESE groups' performances were selected by PDs as the most "legendary" stages!

On June 8, Mnet's music show, "M Countdown" marked its 800th-episode milestone!

As a result, the "M Countdown" PD team, which always strives to create enthusiastic stages for both K-pop fans and artists selected the most memorable performances and told its behind-the-scenes stories.

Here Are 6 PD-Picked Most Legendary 'M Countdown' Stages:

EXO - 'Growl'

According to Han Chul Ho, a music director since "M Countdown" first episode, EXO's "Growl" is undoubtedly a "legendary stage."

Aired on August 1, 2013, the performance was well-received by spectators at the time for its iconic one-take filming on the music show's stage, just like how its MV was made.

SHINee - 'Dream Girl'

Mnet's "M Countdown" chief producer Yoon Shin Hye then picked SHINee's "Dream Girl" stage, which aired in February 2013.

According to Yoon:

"I remember many artists' performances, but SHINee's 15th anniversary this year was a hot topic. Among them, 'Dream Girl' is an episode that is talked about so well that even some of the members do not notice that the microphone pedestal was missing."

As of writing, SHINee's "Dream Girl" stage for "M Countdown" aired on Feb. 21, 2013 boasts 3.4 million YouTube views.

SHINee - 'Everybody'

Aside from "Dream Girl," Chief PD Yoon also selected SHINe's "Everybody" stage and cited its perfect choreo, movement, costumes, cameras and lighting.

Watching it, there's no single boring part, satisfying viewers from the beginning to the end of the performance.

MONSTA X - 'Alligator'

Among the 800 episode stages, camera director Kim Jong Chun selected MONSTA X's "Alligator" comeback stage, which aired on February 21, 2019.

It was a legendary stage where the members were seen wearing white shirts and leather jeans that flaunted their fatal visuals.

It became even more iconic for the stage production's "raining effect" with no NG.

BTS Jimin - 'Set Me Free Part 2'

Mnet's producer Lee Young Joo, who directs "M Countdown" then chose BTS Jimin's "Set Me Free Part."2' which was recently aired.

"Through weeks of close meetings with the artist, we designed a stage that fits the concept."

SEVENTEEN - 'Super'

Last but not least, SEVENTEEN's "Super" was mentioned as an "indispensable legend."

Regarding this, PD Lee said:

"We recorded it in a setting that is not easily seen on music shows such as wire cameras. I was so grateful for the stage from the perspective of directing."
