K-pop Idols Reveal THESE Tips on How To Last More than Decade as Group
1. BTOB
BTOB, who has been together for 12 years, revealed that one secret to their longevity as a group was to "not meet the members in private."
In an interview with South Korean beauty Youtuber and makeup artist LeoJ, he asked Minhyuk if he drinks a lot with his friends, to which the male idol responded:
"I don't have many friends."
Surprised, LeoJ then asked if he often met his co-BTOB members then, but he refused and explained:
"I don't meet the members in private. It's not like we have a bad relationship with the members. But when you meet your family on holidays, don't you laugh and talk too happily?
As such, we want to respect each other's privacy and now when we meet during our schedules, it's very fun. This is the secret of our long run."
2. Girls' Generation
Just like BTOB, 16-year-old Girls' Generation also confessed that they last long after maintaining a reasonable distance from each other.
In a radio show, Hyoyeon revealed that SNSD contact each other twice a year only.
"Since we have a lot of members, we have a lot of work to do, and we are busy, we don't really wonder what each other is doing. To be honest, I only talk to members (by phone) once every six months or not."
3. SHINee
In past interviews, SHINee, who celebrated their 15th debut anniversary in May also claimed that the group rarely sees each other in private. There is also an instance where Minho complained about Key for not visiting him during his military service.
Aside from this, the maknae Taemin claimed that he's also a huge factor in their lasting long, joking that he acts like a middleman stopping the members' fight, especially between Minho and Key.
4. Super Junior
Contrary to the above-mentioned, Super Junior emphasized that "fighting" is essential to maintain a group's longevity.
Another thing is that the members are scared of their co-members. Eunhyuk said:
"The biggest reason we were able to keep the team for a long time is that the members are scared. If you pretend to be crazy and say, 'I'm not going to do it and leave, the team will break up, but there is no member like that. If there is such a member, the rest of the members will go crazy and will be half-dead by the remaining members, but there was no such thing."
He added:
"I can’t leave because I know how much the rest of the members will swear.”
5. Shinhwa
Last but not least, the longest-running K-pop group Shinhwa for 25 years, also pointed out that "physical fighting" is what made their group last longer to date.
In their 25-year career, the group has been embroiled in numerous conflict rumors but it always ended up with the members reconciling after.
Kim Dongwan hilariously said:
"I hope the juniors fight a lot like us. I'm sorry for always causing inconvenience to each other, so I think we're getting closer."
