Even after a decade, the whereabouts of the YG Entertainment artist who disappeared in 2010 is still unknown. His family is still looking for any leads about him.
Whatever happened to Perry?
Who Is Perry? YG Entertainment's Producer, Artist Who Discovered G-Dragon & Teddy
Recently, the shocking situation of the former YG rapper and producer Perry was re-lit after an internet user posted an article, titled "YG composer who has been missing for 10 years," on various online communities.
Before we delve deeper into the mystery case, for those who don't know him, Perry is a Korean-American rapper and producer who was born and raised in the United States.
Initially known as Perry Thomas Borja, he made his name in 1999 as the founding member of the YG Family and cemented his status as a producer by participating in JINUSEAN's album since 2001.
In the same year, he debuted as a rapper with his first album, "Perry by Storm." In fact, GD got first first writing credits through this release.
Starting with the first-gen group, Perry's fame continued and he became known for creating numerous songs for various YG artists including Yang Hyun Suk himself, 1TYM, Gummy, SE7EN, LEXY, YGMA and Un Jung Hwa until 2008.
He also trained Teddy, the founder of YG's subsidiary THEBLACKLABEL, to become a producer, but his reign also ended due to that.
While he participated in all of YG's early albums, Teddy's songs are often chosen as the title song rather than Perry's.
His most recent work that he participated in writing and composing would be for BIGBANG's Japanese album, "Beautiful Hangover," in 2010, but fans didn't know that it would also be his last.
Rapper & Producer Perry's Missing Case Remains Unsolved — Where Is He Now?
Since then, he suddenly vanished, until his contract with YG Entertainment expired in 2015. Although his profile is still in the company, he left no traces of him may it be in Korea or abroad.
Some claimed he already returned to his family in the U.S., but Perry's family claims he has been missing since he was last seen in 2010 in Los Angeles. He was reported missing locally, but his track record is still unknown until 2023.
Amid this mystery, some speculate that he disappeared due to a disagreement with YG. Just before Perry disappeared, the music trend was changing in Korea, centered on idols, but Perry disappeared because he judged that YG could not do the music he wanted.
On the other hand, there is a possibility that Perry may be alone somewhere after cutting ties with his family.
In fact, the host of the Guam podcast "Latitude 13 Happy Hour" in the past claimed that he had walked Perry to his apartment himself.
Currently, Perry's family is still tracking his whereabouts through social media channels, especially on Twitter.
Netizens who saw this responded by saying:
- "He did broadcast activities and he was missing."
- "His family was anxiously looking for him on SNS."
- "I thought he just wasn't doing activities, but he was actually missing."
- "It's so scary."
- "I think his family will be frustrated."
- "YG put it in the jewelry box again."
