IVE Sparks Discussion on Concept Variety — Is Their Group Color Too 'Ambiguous' or 'Versatile'?

Netizens are wondering if IVE's group color is becoming ambiguous due to the group's versatile concepts in their comebacks.

Here's what people are saying.

IVE Sparks Discussion on Concept Variety & Group Color Due to Versatility in Themes

On October 13, a netizen uploaded a forum online titled, "It seems that IVE's problem is they're trying too many things."

The netizen explained that IVE's agency Starship Entertainment made the best out of the group by trying different concepts every comeback. While commendable in versatility, the netizen supposed that it led IVE to have an "ambiguous" group color along the way.

Here's what the netizen said:

"At the end of the day, it was all Starship Entertainment's greed. The agency tried to get the good out in IVE's princess concept, hip hop concept, and easy-listening concept, but these just made IVE's group color ambiguous."

However, the post caught mixed reactions from DIVEs (IVE's fandom) who argued that if IVE went by with just one concept, they would still get called out for doing the same thing repetitively.

Some mentioned how IVE keeps things interesting by releasing comebacks with different concepts, highlighting flexibility. Read their comments below:

  • "If they just stuck to one, people would make a fuss about them for doing the same thing over and over again and being boring."
  • "People would also say (bad) things about them too if they had a fixed concept. Stop making useless reasons."
  • "Eleven: Arab-esque, Love Dive: Europe-esque, After LIKE: Retro, Kitsch: Mix Pop, I AM: High Treble, Off The Record: R&B, Baddie: Hip Hop. I like that it's all different from one another."

However, some agreed with the statement, while others insisted that IVE should've stuck to their royal concept in "LOVE DIVE."

  • "They didn't do anything right. They're too conscious of that other group and wanted to be the top but ended up doing something they can't pull off. The quality went down the drain."
  • "I wish that they kept doing the royal concept from 'LOVE DIVE.' Seriously, they could've stood so much and it's a shame they scrapped that theme."
