Fans compared Taeyeon and Jessica's lives after the latter left the group to pursue her solo career.
These are what they're saying.
K-Netz Regret Jessica's Choice After Comparing Life, Career With SNSD Taeyeon
In an online community, SNSD Taeyeon and her former co-member Jessica drew attention after netizens debated on the gaps in their respective lives after the 2014 issue.
On November 1, an OP wrote a comparison post about the two K-pop idols, which gained about 130k views and 200 upvotes, as of writing.

In the article, the original poster emphasized the initial popularity of the two, saying:
"From the beginning of her debut, Taeyeon and Jessica were in close line. During their prime, Jessica was so popular that the personal fandom rankings went like— Taeyeon, Jessica and Tiffany– in order.
While Taeyeon was collecting male fans, Jessica was gathering female fans."
The uploader then briefly mentioned what happened in 2014, the time when Jessica left the group. At the time, she claimed that she was actually kicked out after she was pressured to choose between her business and group.
The author then started pointing out the difference between Taeyeon and Jessica, writing:
"In 2015, Taeyeon started her solo career and of course, it must have been difficult to do both SNSD and TTS, but despite that, she's still active as SNSD. She also made a commemorative comeback for their 10th and 15th anniversary, while doing a lot of solo activities so far.
(But for Jessica) she left to do business for no reason but her business is not working well to the point she's behind paying rent. She went out to quit her girl group activities, but she's been participating in various Chinese competitions and auditions. She's been also receiving curses in Korea."
Lastly, the OP expressed regrets, saying:
"I feel sorry for everything. Jessica's the only one who could support Taeyeon's high notes.
But I also don't think it's Jessica's fault. There are times when people get tired and don't want to do everything, and they want to try new things. There's only responsibility that comes with it.
Anyway, Taeyeon is almost seen as a legend as she has good personal activities, tours by herself, does regular entertainment shows, shoots advertisements, and is mentioned as a role model for various girl groups.
Jessica must have been similarly popular as Taeyeon if she didn't do it."
Golden Stars Defend Jessica Jung: 'She's even earning more than Taeyeon...'
When Jessica's fans, especially Golden Stars saw this, they were disappointed that some thought the female idol's quality of life decreased when she left Girls' Generation.
Due to this, the star's supporters emphasized that she's been living the best life, both as an artist, business owner and fashion icon.
They wrote:
"Guys, the average bag that Jessica carries is worth an average of 30 to 40 million won (22k~30k USD) so don't be sympathetic to a kid who has dozens of things like that. Her money is thousands of times more than you. What are you worried about celebrities?"
"Jessica chose China. Jessica was originally a U.S. national, so she didn't have a reason to be so obsessed with Korea. She chose the Chinese market, which is 10 times the unit price of Korea, and made astronomical money there, so what's regrettable about it? She made more money than Taeyeon."
- "Unlike what Jessica was known in Korea, O heard she earns more money in China. Where's the shame with that?"
- "If you become a celebrity in China, you don't have to worry about making a lot of money."
