Ahead of the sub-unit SISTAR19 debut, Bora and Hyolyn answered the question regarding the possible SISTAR reunion as a quartet despite having disbanded. What's hindering them?
On January 16 at 6 p.m. KST, SISTAR19, Bora and Hyolyn as a sub-unit will finally release their new digital single album, "NO MORE (MA BOY)," after 11 years.
Ahead of their comeback, the duo sat down for an interview with the Korean press in Seoul to commemorate their much-awaited reunion.
In the interview, not only did they express their excitement regarding their new song but also shared their honest thoughts about reuniting as a duo and the possibility of SISTAR's full-member comeback.
Will SISTAR Ever Reunite as Full Group? Bora, Hyolyn Reveal What's Hindering It
SISTAR is considered one of the most legendary second-gen girl groups who became known for their modified, "Summer Queens." Every summer, they are anticipated to drop new bops, such as "So Cool," "Shake It," "Touch My Body," "Give It to Me," and more.
However, the group was struck by the "7-Year" curse and disbanded in 2017 to focus on their solo careers.
Despite that, the four members - Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom - have maintained close friendships even after parting ways and would sometimes join their members as featuring artists in their respective releases.

With the influx of second-gen girls reuniting in 2023, there is high anticipation if one of them would be SISTAR, but it is already 2024 now yet they are not announcing any plans for a four-member release.
Regarding a full comeback, Bora explained that they are actually considering it, but the major hindrance to their reunion is the conflict in their schedules.
"It's not that there wasn't a talk about it either. However, not only the company's thoughts but bigger things, such as our thoughts and timing had to be aligned.
Each person had a timing for what they were doing. That's why it was harder for many people to re-unite. It was easier because there were two of us."
Hyolyn agreed and added:
"It's not easy to get together in one place with just one word. I'm thinking, "We should get together at some point," but I couldn't even make a plan."
Hopefully, this year will be SISTAR's time!
How SISTAR19 Differs from SISTAR
As the unit was first known as SISTAR, there are expectations that the duo will do well as a group.
But in the interview, SISTAR19 expressed their desire to deliver that they are both SISTAR but at the same time they wanted to show something unique about their sub-unit.
In this regard, Bora stated:
"SISTAR19's 'Gone not around any longer' came out in January. So I thought it was perfect to have a comeback in January.
SISTAR has a strong summer vibe, but I think SISTAR19 is not a sub-unit that is limited to a certain season."
As they are not getting younger, Bora also expressed her desire to gain a new modifier through this activity - "cool unnies"!
"I want to hear the words, "cool older sisters (unnies)." It's not like we want to be different, but it's true that we've become 'unnie.' It would be nice to have a feeling of 'these are cool older sisters.'
