In the aftermath of their tour announcement, the flak has now been directed to SEVENTEEN in an online community, where Korean CARATs cancelled the group for several reasons.
Here's what happened.
K-CARATs Cancel SEVENTEEN for Continuously 'Deceiving' Fandom
On January 29, a forum titled, "All 13 of them should go to the army," was established by netizens to discuss SEVENTEEN's "controversies," which according to the post, had affected the CARAT fandom several times.
The author described it wasn't the first time SEVENTEEN had "deceived" the fans. The post's caption started with Joshua's dating rumors and the group's Kimchi tribute gifts.
OP then expressed sure-fire disappointment towards SEVENTEEN's upcoming tour announcement. Earlier on January 29, K-CARATs were enraged upon learning that the group's 9th debut anniversary would be celebrated in Japan.
The author continued to mention SEVENTEEN's "mishaps," and expressed how all 13 members should enlist in the military already. Read OP's full caption below:
"It's not the first or second time. Since last year, they keep getting into controversies which deceived the fans. I've already been so shocked by Joshua last year and then with their tribute controversy, I almost quit the fandom.
Still, it reminded me of good memories with my bias and I went back and forth on Twitter to read their news. After I saw their encore concert, I thought that SEVENTEEN was finally going to give us something back, but that's not the case.
Do you think that just by babying or showering them with love will fill their wallets and stay affectionate forever? SEVENTEEN aren't rookies anymore, they're singers who received a daesang. This isn't something that can be achieved with just pure skills.
Until now, Koreans have been supporting them quietly. Meanwhile, they made a fool out of the fans with their encore concert schedules.
Now, none of my good memories mean anything anymore. Just how do they resolve their own controversies? By interacting more with the fans? Saying good words? Those are just the obvious.
Last year, SEVENTEEN already went overseas for their year-end shows. We're not talking about any events, but when it comes to their debut commemorative day, shouldn't they do it in Korea?
Whether it's' their co-workers, hoobaes, or makeup shops, they're sending gifts to all those people. Do they think their industry image is the most important? At this point, it's too late for them to wake up. They should all enlist in Gangwon-do."
The comments section was filled by disappointed fans, who agreed with OP's thoughts regarding SEVENTEEN. Read their comments below:
- "It's better for them to all enlist at once to the neighborhood's army unit."
- "I just pity their fangirls, imagine how hard their parents worked to raise them just for them to act like ATMs. It's like turning my daughter into a nun."
- "This group is in urgent need to enlist."
