Did aespa Karina Buy Her Instagram Followers?
As of February 6, 2024, Karina of aespa has secured the title of being the most followed 4th-generation female idol on Instagram.
As of the time of writing, she has 11.9 million followers on the platform.
While MYs celebrated Karina's achievement, fans of Jang Wonyoung expressed their suspicion towards the aespa members' achievement.
Many have come out to accuse the female idol of buying bot followers and Instagram likes. Some have even taken to social media sites such as X (formerly Twitter) for alleged evidence.
Screen recordings and screenshots of supposed bot accounts were spread online, with many accusing either Karina or her label, SM Entertainment, of buying her followers to earn her the "most-followed" title.
In response to the allegations, Karina's fans took to social media to defend the idol. They noted that there are also thousands of bot accounts that are following Jang Wonyoung on Instagram and liking her posts.
