A post discussing TWICE's lack of promotions in their home country of South Korea has gone viral in the K-pop community.
Here's what happened.
TWICE's Lack of Promotions for 'With YOU-th' in South Korea Pointed Out
TWICE is currently on a global scale level, as the group promoted their 13th mini album "With YOU-th" and its title track "ONE SPARK." The album, together with the song, were both released on February 23.
ONCEs were eager for the comeback from one of Korea's household names. However, instead of an opening showcase in Korea which will introduce their new album, TWICE's first performance for "ONE SPARK" occurred in NBC's "The Today Show."
According to sources, TWICE was listed as a performing artist for the popular U.S. talk show's Citi Music Series. The premiere received positive reviews due to TWICE's energetic music, diverse choreography, and contagious energy.
Soon after, Korean ONCEs noticed the change in the group's promotional pavement, as TWICE seemed to hone their huge following across international areas. Eventually, a K-ONCE established a forum post, pleading TWICE to promote their newest comeback in South Korea.
The author extended concerns to the group's performance on domestic music charts and stated how increasing their South Korean promotions would contribute to a bigger success.
OP then followed up that TWICE should show sincerity by either pre-recording their performances on music shows or appearing in variety shows just like in the old days.
Read the OP's request below:
"TWICE, show me some sincerity. If you're going to make a comeback, then show us that you did make one by doing a pre-recorded music show in advance or releasing a separate stage and uploading it to YouTube.
Please appear on variety shows too. Other teams could also secure special appearances on shows such as the channels of IU or Yoo Jae Suk. That should be more than enough.
Please do some activities (in Korea). What will activities do if you promote it for one week? You can also do it for two weeks. It's really bad, TWICE pulled out a good song and doesn't promote it. Even if the song isn't good, the ranking will go up to some extent if it's promoted well.
It's a shame, the song is addictive, and it doesn't get promoted. I'll just leave it at that."
Meanwhile, ONCEs on X (Twitter) voiced that TWICE's international presence is a level up for the group. Read their reactions below:
