Following recent photos, this idol bowed his head to fans after making them "upset" due to his apparent weight loss. On February 26, the singer took to Instagram to share his 2024 profile photos wherein he was seen wearing a suit.
While the 46-year-old K-pol icon looked fine in his images, he made fans "upset" due to his noticeable smaller belly, teasing him for failing to manage himself.
Psy Releases New Profile Photos, Apologizes for Weight Loss
On Instagram, "Gangnam Style" singer Psy shocked K-pop fans with his new photos highlighting his slimmer appearance.
His necktie, which fans expected to float due to his usual protruding belly, perfectly fell into place, showing he has lost weight. His face and physique look thinner.
Along with the photos, Psy then bowed and apologized to his supporters through the caption, saying:
"My stomach was particularly smaller that day, but it is usually bigger than that. My necktie is not sticking out. I'm sorry."
This is Psy's response to fans who will be upset by his weight loss after predicting their reactions.
Just like what he foresaw, comments about his thinner appearance poured out, such as:
- "Ha, really, you can't control yourself. What is this? This is even thinner than before."
- "You don't care about yourself anymore. I'm heartbroken."
- "You didn't take care of yourself. I'm upset."
- "I think it's been years since you couldn't take responsibility and are always saying sorry. This is serious! Please take care of your body!"
- "Why did it become easier for you to lock your buttons?"
- "Wow, I'm upset that you failed to manage yourself."
Why Are Fans 'Upset' About Psy's Weight Loss?
Psy's fans pointed out that the slimmer Psy is a "failure to take care of himself." As the only singer who worries that he does not take care of his body when he loses weight, Psy wanted to keep his chubby style.
This is not only the icon's goal, but he's also doing it for fans who were seriously concerned every time he showed up with a slimmer body.
Later on, it became an inside joke among the fandom, expressing their concerns in a lighter atmosphere.
Psy mentioned this first when he appeared on JTBC's "Knowing Bros" in April 2022.
The veteran singer, who appeared to have lost weight received concerns from Kang Hodong who said:
"It's a complete failure to take care of yourself. You lost weight. You have to always take care of your body."
To why Psy responded:
"It's a sad story, but I kept my body shape no matter how much I danced before, but now I lose weight when I dance."
Meanwhile, Psy debuted with his first album "Psy From The Psycho World" in 2001. While he has been in the industry for more than 2 decades, it was only in 2012 that he established his position as a global superstar with his multihits, "Gangnam Style," "Gentleman," "Daddy," "New Face" and "That That."
Currently, Psy is meeting with audiences through concerts such as the "Summer Swag Show" in summer and "All Night Stand" at the end of the year.
Psy will also perform at Inspire Arena for "Inspire Salute" with BIGBANG Taeyang, which will be held on March 2.
