Red Velvet member Wendy is drawing attention for her latest visuals, with some commenting that the idol loooks "different."
Wendy recently made her first comeback as a soloist with "Wish You Hell" on March 12, 2024. To celebrate her release, the female idol has been attending various shows and activities to promote her song. Most recently, Wendy guested on SBS Power FM's "Young Street," a show she herself hosted from 2021 to 2023.
Following her appearance, photos from that day garnered attention from Korean netizens.
Did Red Velvet Wendy's Face Change?
On March 14, 2024, a post titled "Wendy's face changed way too much" was uploaded to a popular South Korean online community forum.
The post contained a photo of Wendy with Kwon Eunbi from 2021 and 2024. The first photo from 2021 is when Kwon Eunbi guested on "Wendy's Young Street" to promote her debut extended play, "OPEN."
The 2024 photo is when Wendy guested on "Kwon Eunbi's Young Street" to promote her comeback, "Wish You Hell."
Wendy looked noticeably different in the latest photo. Besides being noticeably skinnie, the idol's nose appeared sharper and her lips more plump. The sahep of her jaw and chin also appeared to have evolved from 2021.
This sharp difference stands out next to Kwon Eunbi, whose face did not change as much besides losing some weight.
Korean Netizens React to Red Velvet Wendy's Visual Changes
Soon after the post was uploaded, many took to the comment section to express their shock over Wendy's visuals.
People expressed disappointment that the female idol may have had cosmetic surgery done, with some stating she was in her "visual glory days" before doing so.
While some stated her face changed due to surgeries brought about from her life-threatening surgery in 2020, many shrugged this theory off. It was noted by many that Wendy looks different from how she was after the surgery, with some saying she has obviously been going under the knife several times.
Some comments read,
- "Wendy was in her glory days, but after that, she started touching her face. Why did she do that?"
- "Wendy looks different in the first picture even compared to her face before the incident. Wendy was so pretty with her short hair before that... Wendy hurt herself so much that she had to rest for almost a year, so do you think she can maintain the same face as she did before? I feel like she probably redid her face another time. Why? Because the first time, she looked kinda unnatural. I prefer her face now. And Wendy also lost a lot of weight now. It's not like she has been fixing her face all the time, she fixed it because she hurt herself. If you guys were in her shoes, you'd do the same thing."
- "Wendy injured the bones on her face because of the accident, that's why she became like that. So why do people keep asking why she changed so much? Or why she did surgery? Obviously her face recovered after and she will slowly touch up here and there. Aren't you guys embarrassed to bash her face if you don't know what happened? Or do you guys not think at all?"
- "Wendy's fans really use her accident as an excuse for everything. She has been going under the knife ever since her debut and she keeps doing it until now. How long will you guys keep bringing up her accident?"
