During a recent interview, BABYMONSTER revealed their feelings about being compared to BLACKPINK and ILLIT.
BABYMONSTER made their official debut on April 1, 2024, with the mini-album "BABYMONS7ER." Since then, the girls have actively been promoting their title track, "SHEESH," by accomplishing several activities. Though well-loved by fans, the group has garnered flak and comparisons to other groups.

BABYMONSTER Opens Up on Being Compared to BLACKPINK
On April 4, 2024, BABYMONSTER sat down for an interview with News Culture. During the interview, they asked if they felt burdened by the nickname "BLACKPINK's little sisters."
Rora was the first to answer, saying that they spent their trainee days looking up to BLACKPINK, and that they are honored to be given such a title. While they practice, they learn from BLACKPINK by watching their videos and looking at their expressions and attitudes. They are working hard to not fall short of what BLACKPINK has achieved.
Chiquita stated she was moved to audition for YG Entertainment because she is a BLINK. Lisa is her role model.
When asked about what makes BABYMONSTER unique and different from BLACKPINK. Rora stated that they have both the "baby" and the "monster" sides to them. Chiquita also stated that they have the "YG DNA" and aspirations for BABYMONSTER to grow into its own genre.

Later on in the interview, the interviewer mentioned ILLIT and how both are fifth-generation girl groups. He dubbed ILLIT as BABYMONSTSER's "rival group."

At this, Ahyeon stated that they believe it is more important to develop their skills than compete with other groups. Instead of paying attention to the success of their peers, the members plan to comfort each other and foster their cool image.
Rora then revealed that she is actually friends with the members of ILLIT, and that both groups are cheering each other on with good intentions. Fans are hoping the two girl groups interact more in the future.
