LE SSERAFIM Past Teaser Comes Under Fire For Being Pro-Japanese Imperialism

LE SSERAFIM's "Burn the Bridge" teaser has resurfaced, with people claiming the theme is pro-Japanese imperialism.

The spike in interest in LE SSERAFIM's music video was sparked due to internal HYBE disputes, specifically their feud with ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, as well as claims related to Dahnworld and possible cult affiliation.

Now, LE SSERAFIM is being slammed for seemingly spreading propaganda. Keep on reading for all the details.

LE SSERAFIM 'Burn the Bridge' Teaser Comes Under Fire for Being Pro-Japanese Imperialism

In the first scene of the teaser for "Burn the Bridge," there is a red liquid-covered floor and a Japanese narrator.

They also cited a part at the end in which Sakura, a Japanese member, appears to be floating above the sea and gazing up at the sky in a manner that resembles the disputed territory of Dokdo.

Many believe the imagery featured in the teaser is pro-Japanese imperialism and propanda. Specifically, the teaser is pro-Japanese-Korean Integration Policy, which was in effect during the Japanese colonial era. They believe the group is showcasing Japan's national cultural support.

Some comments read,

  • "It was weird from the moment they included Japanese members."
  • "Is their concept pro-Japanese?"
  • "I'm ashamed that I liked them without knowing anything."
  • "Why are they speaking Japanese?"
  • "Is this K-pop or J-pop?
  • "They were obviously pro-Japanese from the beginning."
  • "It's shocking how obvious they are."

Korean Netizens Slam LE SSERAFIM Japanese Member Sakura

In addition, Sakura's disrespect for Koreans has sparked debate. Ever since she started to rise in the K-pop market, criticism has followed the idol, but it has become more rampant now.

Fans noted that in the past, Sakura conducted events supporting war criminals and donned clothing like the rising sun flag while she was a member of AKB48.

In addition, at LE SSERAFIM's most recent performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, netizens pointed out several reported instances of improper behavior.

They took issue with the group's usage of Sakura's Japanese narration when the members came on stage, the background screen that resembled the flag of the rising sun, and the use of Japanese in the farewell greeting even though they are a K-pop group.
