Fans of aespa Giselle Sends Protest Trucks to SM Entertainment: ‘Treat Her Better!’

Fans of aespa member Giselle have sent protest trucks to their agency, demanding SM Entertainment treat the female idol better.

On May 22, 2024, Giselle's largest Chinese fan base, Giselle Oct 30 CN Bar, organized and sent protest trucks to SM Entertainment. The protest trucks were used to slam the company for the idol's recent outfit during aespa's appearance on "Amazing Saturday."

Due to the thin straps that barely held onto her body, she was barely covered. As she danced, the top would slip and her straps loosened, nearly falling off her body.

During the program, she was seen adjusting her top several times.

Additionally, they demanded the company give her proper lines and screen time, claiming she was not being treated as well as the other members.

Some of the messages the truck read include:

  • "GISELLE does not need to apologize. A company that only knows how to avoid their responsibility has no future."
  • "Treat GISELLE fairly. Meet the needs of fans, respect and protect her."
  • "Reject unreasonably styling choices. The company should respect and protect their female artists."
  • "Pay attention to GISELLE's physical and mental health instead of neglecting and letting her suffer."
  • "Give GISELLE proper lines and screen time as the main rapper. Arrange good make-up, provide equal resources and opportunities, handle GISELLE's personal information accurately, and do not disappoint the fans."

Besides their demands from SM Entertainment, some messages also showed their love and affection for Giselle. Some messages stated that they love the idol from the moon and back, and stated that the female idol is someone who continuously grows and shines on stage.

As of writing, neither SM Entertainment nor Giselle has responded to the protest trucks.

aespa released the music video for "Supernova" on May 13 as a pre-release to their upcoming full-length album, "Armageddon," which will be released on May 27. The album will be released alongside the single of the same name.
