Was ILLIT Wonhee Forced To Delete Comments By Staff? Here's Why K-Netz Think So

After initially receiving sympathy for the hate comments ILLIT was receiving, Korean netizens now suspect Wonhee was forced to delete messages by HYBE staff.

Back on May 14, 2024, ILLIT held a live stream on Weverse to celebrate 50 days since their debut. One portion of the livestream went viral, which featured Wonhee deleting and reporting hate comments while Yunah was reading positive comments the girl group was receiving.

Wonhee also went viral for her surprised reaction to a positive comment from fans.

While Wonhee initially garnered pity from Korean netizens, people now believe the idol was forced to act sad and report comments by staff.

On May 15, 2024, a post titled "I hope ILLIT Wonhee wasn't acting" was posted to the popular South Korean online community forum Instiz. In the post, the original poster (OP) shared GIFs of Wonhee from the live stream.

It was noted that before Wonhee had the phone, she was seen happy and interacting with the members. Soon, staff members garnered her attention, and her eyes started darting from side to side. As the staff member slid the phone towards her, Wonhee was seen thanking them, looking nervous.

She then placed the phone in front of her, her eyes moving around rapidly as she did so. Her focus then shifted to the phone, and she started deleting and reporting comments.

In the comment section, Korean netizens wondered if Wonhee was acting due to the demands of HYBE Labels. They claimed it looked like Wonhee was forced to look at hate comments and delete them, which also meant HYBE was using Wonhee as media play and as a shield.

Many expressed their pity for Wonhee if it is true that HYBE made her report comments. They slammed the company for their actions and wondered why they would do such a thing.

  • Some comments read,
  • "Wonhee was moving her eyes so fast..."
  • "Looks like they forced the baby to do it..."
  • "I used to think that people who claimed she was acting was reaching, but seeing this, it really looks weird."
  • "Does HYBE take us as fools?"
  • "I knew this was forced virality the moment I saw this trending."
  • "Wow... This is disgusting."
  • "Using their artists as shields again, I see. They really don't think about their artists at all and just use them."
  • "Wow, just how stupid do they think people are to orchestrate this... Do they think they won't get caught? This is seriously embarrassing."
  • "Wow, so it was fake?"
  • "If they really made Wonhee do this... I pity the baby. That company is just evil."
