EXO Suho talked about late SHINee Jonghyun for the first time, and revealed that he started writing THIS song because of him.
On May 25 to 26, the EXO leader successfully wrapped up his first solo concert, "2024 SUHO CONCERT - SU:HOME," in 12 years since his debut.
The two-day event transpired at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul, while the second day was broadcast live online through Beyond Live and Weverse.
The days Suho spent with EXO-Ls (fandom) became more special as the idol himself presented the overall idea of planning and directing the concept of "Home."
With the cozy, homey atmosphere, he also hugged fans with his warm vocals as he performed with a live band session, singing over 22 songs including his solo releases and EXO's hit tracks.
In between his performances then, Suho would share a story behind every song in his setlist and among them, an anecdote about his special "friend" caught the attention of K-pop fans especially Eris.
While talking about the song, "For You Now" (feat. Younha), included in his first mini-album, "Self-Portrait" released in 2020, Suho couldn't help but feel emotional while he reminisced writing it with the late SHINee Jonghyun in mind.

"'For You Now' is a song that contains my desire to give back the love fans had given to me, but, in fact, this is also a song that I have written while thinking of this 'friend' of mine."
Suho then confessed that he was skeptical about talking about it at first. However, he found it interesting that fans claimed that they were reminded of this friend (Jonghyun) after hearing the song, expressing his delight that his message was conveyed well although he hadn't really talked about it yet before.
While trying not to choke on his words and burst into tears, Suho continued:
"I got comments on MelOn, where people wrote something like, 'This song reminds me of this artist, of this friend.' I cried a lot while reading that."
The male idol then recalled his memories with Jonghyun and wanting to keep his legacy, he promised to continue moving forward as a musician.
"This friend is someone who always gives comfort to fans and people. To be honest, I am also one of his fans. As I learned a lot from this friend, I also want to become someone who can keep giving love and comfort as an artist, musician and EXO's leader, Suho."
Suho and Jonghyun shared a close friendship starting as SM Entertainment trainees.
In fact, Suho almost debuted as a SHINee member, if it weren't for his injury. Despite debuting in different groups, the two continued to express affection for each other, with Jonghyun even gifting EXO the track "Playboy," a some that Suho loves dearly.
