BELIFT Lab is being slammed for using a font for ENHYPEN's album without the proper permission.
On May 25, 2024, a post titled "BELIFT Lab using design Margot Leveque's font without permission for ENHYPEN's album" was shared with the well-known Korean online community forum Instiz.
There, the original poster revealed that the font used for ENHYPEN's May 2023 album, "Dark Blood," is Romie, both regular and italic. The logos are modified slightly, with the diamond semi-colon used in the "Bite Me" teasers being custom-made.
The font is paid but is available to download for free if the purpose of usage is non-commercial. This means that people can use Romie for free for creative work that they will not earn profit from. As the font was used for the album, which is being sold to fans worldwide, it does not fall under the criteria needed to use Romie for free.
This did not go by typographer Margot Leveque, who made the font. She took to her Instagram accounts to publicly blast ENHYPEN for using the font. While she sarcastically claimed the use of her font was "lovely" and "quite cool," she also claimed they should send her money for the use of the font.
Those who saw the post expressed that they were disappointed but not surprised. In the past two months, HYBE has been accused of copying from different people; whether it be other K-pop stars or other artists, HYBE has been accused of copy-pasting different things for the groups.

Many are wondering how HYBE can find itself in another plagiarism controversy so quickly. They claimed the company has no awareness of copyright, and slammed HYBE for thinking they can use anything they want without proper credit or payment.
BELIFT Lab is also under fire. Following accusations from Min Hee Jin claiming they and HYBE copied NewJeans's formula for ILLIT's debut, they were already slammed for their unoriginality. This has only added to the accusations.
Some comments read,
- "I can't believe an entertainment company has no awareness of copyright."
- "Wow, it's them again."
- "Again? They have been plagiarizing things up until now and probably don't even realize what they are doing is wrong."
- "Again?"
- "Is this how they use fonts? This is how they use fonts that aren't from a commercial font site?"
- "It's from the designer's original account, and they know it since they took the front from her. But this company thinks the whole world is theirs to freely plagiarize."
- "No, but why is it always them?"
- "It's this company again..."
- "Phew... I was just thinking about how pretty this font was."
- "BELIFT Lab seems to have no awareness of copyright."
