Amid constant criticism LE SSERAFIM is facing, many are wondering if Kim Garam made the right move by leaving the girl group.
On May 29, 2024, a post titled "Kim Garam seems to have unintentionally become the winner" was shared with Instiz, a popular South Korean online community forum.
In the post, they recalled how Kim Garam left LE SSERAFIM and Source Music after being accused of school violence. After leaving the group, Kim Garam worked hard on her college entrance exams and was able to pass Konkuk University.

She is currently studying as an acting major at the university. She is a freshman and living her life to the fullest as an ordinary citizen. The original poster noted that she appears to be doing well after withdrawing from the group, as she no longer has to face scrutiny from the public.
When Kim Garam originally left LE SSERAFIM, the group thrived. They had successful comebacks with "ANTI-FRAGILE" and "UNFORGIVEN." However, starting this year, the group has been at the center of criticism. Though the songs "EASY" and "SMART" were well-loved, their encore stages drew flak as they highlighted their unstable live vocals.
Things only got worse for them following their Coachella performance in April. Though the girl group was praised for their dance skills and charisma, many slammed the girl group for their unstable live vocals during their first weekend. During the second weekend, they were slammed for turning up the backing vocals, as it made it nearly impossible to hear their vocals.

Until now, they have been slammed by Korean netizens. Amid the legal battle between HYBE Labels and ADOR CEO Min He Jin, it was revealed that NewJeans's debut was delayed so that LE SSERAFIM could debut first since they were able to scout former IZ*ONE members Kim Chaewon and Sakura. Because of that, LE SSERAFIM debuted with the title "HYBE's first girl group" rather than NewJeans.
With the constant criticisms against LE SSERAFIM, many are wondering if Kim Garam emerged as the winner by leaving the group during their debut era. However, many Korean netizens disagree.
Many noted that someone accused of school violence will never be considered the winner. Others commented that while she might be enjoying life as a regular person, LE SSERAFIM was able to make a lot of money already. Comparing the riches she could have gotten if she remained with LE SSERAFIM what she has now proves she did not "win."
