NCT's Taeyong, who is currently fulfilling his military service duties, sparked curiosity among netizens when he posted an Instagram Story at around 1 a.m. on May 30th. The photo depicted a serene night sky featuring a red moon and streetlights reflecting on a lake.
The post left many netizens puzzled, as Taeyong has been serving in the military since April 15th. According to the Ministry of National Defense, soldiers are only permitted to use mobile phones from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on holidays.
They are prohibited from using mobile phones during guard duty, on-duty service, general lessons, and training.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their confusion and speculate about the situation. Comments ranged from, "Is it possible for him to use a mobile phone at 1 a.m.?" and "Didn't someone else keep the phone and upload it for him?" to "It doesn't make sense," and "But isn't he in the Navy?"
Others suggested possible explanations, with some stating, "Wasn't he allowed to use his mobile phone when moving as a promotional ambassador?" and "Logically saying, he would only post it when he was allowed to use his mobile phone."
As of now, the reason why Taeyong was able to use his cell phone at 1 a.m. remains unknown. Fans and netizens are left wondering if there were special circumstances that allowed him this access.
Taeyong enlisted in the Navy on April 15th, becoming the first NCT member to begin his military service. His expected discharge date is December 14th next year.
In recent news, Speculation arose that NCT's Taeyong is being treated as an outcast after he mentioned that other members don't share their concerns with him.
This led to negative comments citing his past controversies. NCTzens defended Taeyong, explaining his difficulty empathizing is due to his personality type, not relational issues. They urged people not to overanalyze the group's dynamics and affirmed Taeyong's role as a respected leader.
