NewJeans Hanni couldn't resist teasing Minji after the latter flirted with the crowd during the group's performance at Sejong University.
On June 1, Minji communicated with fans through the platform Phoning. There, she urged the group's official fandom Bunnies to "stop watching the university festival video."
She added, "That wasn't me."
She revealed she was teased by Hanni due to her actions at a music festival, stating, "I was teased a lot by Ms. Pham Hanni. Why did I act like that at Sejong University? I really shouldn't wear a hat next time."
NewJeans, which Minji is a part of, has been performing at various university festivals starting with Korea University on May 25.
Since then, they have performed at Chosun University, Dong-eui University, and Pusan National University on May 27 and 28, followed by Dongguk University and Sejong University on May 30, and finally Chung-Ang University on May 31.
During their sets, NewJeans performed the biggest hits, including their new songs "How Sweet’" and "Bubble Gum." Their performance earned them enthusiastic responses from festival-goers.
Minji's performance at Sejong University was particularly noteworthy. Wearing a denim hat, she interacted with the audience by "flirting" with them, such as blowing kisses and loosening her tie.
This drew explosive reactions both on-site and online!
After the festivals, members Hanni and Danielle teased Minji for her playful performance during a live broadcast, stirring up further discussion.
In related news, NewJeans plans to donate all earnings from their festival appearances to the Korea Scholarship Foundation.
Meanwhile, NewJeans continues to perform well on domestic and international charts with their recently released double single "How Sweet."
The title track "How Sweet" entered Spotify’s Weekly Top Song Global chart (or the week of May 24-30 at 85th place. It also snagged first place in both South Korea and Taiwan.

On domestic music charts like Melon, "How Sweet" and "Bubble Gum" are ranked second and third, respectively.
The songs are sweeping music shows wins as the girl group promotes on various programs. For reference, NewJeans won first place on "Show! Champion" and "Music Bank" with "How Sweet," earning them two crowns.
NewJeans is set to release their Japanese debut single "Supernatural" on June 21, followed by a fan meeting at the Tokyo Dome on June 26 and 27.
