A female rookie idol is garnering attention for her slim physique.
On June 19, 2024, a post titled "Wow, they are really freaking skinny" was uploaded to Nate Pann, one of South Korea's most well-known online community forums. In the post, the original poster shared a photo featuring two tripleS members holding bouquets.
While two members were in the photo, one of them caught the eye of Korean netizens: Park Shion.
Born in 2006, Shion was the 20th member to be introduced as a tripleS member. According to fans, Shion is actually a big eater, but due to her fast metabolism and young age, she struggles to put on weight. As a Daejeon native, one of her favorite foods is Seongsimdang bread.
Korean netizens who saw the post marveled at her slim figure. They noted that it appears she was born naturally skinny, adding that since her head doesn't look big, her proportions would still look good even if she were to lose more weight. Others claimed that she was "bone skinny" due to the lack of fat on her body.
Some comments from Korean netizens read,
- "Wow... But her head doesn't appear that big. It looks like her head is so small, so even if she loses weight, her proportions would still be good."
- "It appears she was born like that."
- "This is Park Shion from tripleS! She revealed on her TMI that as a daughter of Daejeon, she loves eating Seongsimdang bread. Recently, her variety sense has been going viral from their self-made content. Please show her lots of attention!"
- "She is seriously bone skinny."
- "This is tripleS's Park Shion. She loves bread but has revealed that she can't gain weight."
While Korean netizens praised her figure, international netizens were not as impressed. Many were saddened to see someone underweight earning praise for their figure, noting that being overly skinny has become the latest dangerous trend in South Korea. Others believed she was lying about being a big eater due to her figure, and worried that she might have an eating disorder.

Some comments from international netizens read,
- "It is very strange that this has become the ideal in K-pop. The Korean system has adapted the inhuman skinny body type that is promoted in China as their own."
- "I hate it when idols who are clearly underweight pretend to be big eaters and keep claiming they don't gain weight."
- "How do people believe this? She might be naturally skinny, but definitely not THAT skinny. This is the result of starvation."
- "It's sad that this body type is so common with Asian celebrities now."
- "A lot of idols suffer from eating disorders. I wish younger fans don't assume this is normal."
